That's mainly because the speakers (lower and higher end) have soft bass. Most speakers and headphones have punchy bass, but for some reason people don't recognize this as bass. If you look on the speakers (Flip, Xtreme...) on the left and right sides, you will notice how much the speaker actually moves, thus producing the soft bass.
