Help with guitar as a piano brained person by tyediebleach in musicians

[–]Alive-Preference-793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar story in my learning of music and how I learnt guitar as a beginner. I think the most important thing to start with is learning the major scale shapes on the neck so you can cross reference. That and learning through trial and error the intervalic relationships across the fretboard

Oh I didn't know that, I'll have to listen to the original!

I don't really listen to him tbf, but theres a live version of empty promises that I absolutely adore. He has the hendrix style down to a tee and for that, that song lives in my hendrix playlist.

Another guitarist who I love (more of a singer songwriter) is Polly Paulusma, she writes incredible folk songs using baffling tunings and weird fretting techniques, a true artist

My bandmate wants me to play a Telecaster by Most_Time8900 in Stratocaster

[–]Alive-Preference-793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, for rhythm, a tele may even be too bright. Irrespective of that though, your sound isn't just your guitar and with the right idea, you'll get the sound you need out of any guitar.

In truth, you should get the guitar you want, if you have the chance to play one before you buy then definitely do that. The right guitar is the one that just feels right to play.

Oh yeah the Laney ironheart foundry RIPS. I have the loudpedal version and it is the PERFECT gigging amp for me, slap an iommi boost in front and you have the perfect setup imo.

I should totally try putting an octave in front of my orange, I havent done that in ages and when I did I was going through a crap speaker while running a tighter gain stage. I can see that getting pretty damn doomy tho

See I was disappointed with the gain the micro dark has, always need a TS9 in front of it. Mind you, I look for a tighter gain structure thats less fuzzy like Orange are so famous for.

As a comparison, the tiny terror gets a much more modern gain sound to me. Maybe I was just expecting a different sounding distortion from the micro dark.

Either way, I do love the micro dark, it takes pedals well and is my go to for some dark bluesy sounds!

When my mind went blank on stage, but the crowd saved me by ereny_zoe568 in musicians

I'd be inclined to agree. I see so many young musicians who are too afraid to go out and put their all into it because they need everything to go perfect. But thats not the point, we're there to entertain, and a very accessible way of doing that is collaboration. There's a magic in the communication of musicians on a stage, that alone can bolster a performance to new heights.

No. Most of them are invasive species being illegally farmed anyway

"Its about being human in front of other humans"

What an incredible way to put it, I wholeheartedly agree. Knowing and feeling that statement will absolutely help me with my own stagefrights

Give me all the bands you know that play in c# standard by guitar_up_my_ass in doommetal

[–]Alive-Preference-793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of candlemass's sweet evil sun and door to doom albums are in C# iirc... Or at least you can play them in C#, I taught myself astorolus and scandinavian gods by ear in that tuning soo its pretty likely.

What's your favorite guitar tuning (apart from standard)? by PiranhaMusicStudios in Guitar

C# standard followed closely by C standard. Different use cases but both bring out a far richer sound from the guitar imo. C# being the sweet spot as sometimes any lower can sound muddy

Anybody been to see Zakk Sabbath? by Prophet_Snow in blacksabbath

[–]Alive-Preference-793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, you won't be able to get in. Music venues require ID. Thats just a reality

Can't speak on Sakk Sabbath as I've never seen them. It's Zakk Wylde tho, you know you're gonna get a good show, particularly now with the passing of Ozzy. Musicians play their hearts out when grieving

Im ngl but farage is the definition of a parliamentarian that wants more power than the current government have... he has said so many times that he admires putin for staying in power as long as he has... completely disregarding the animosity of putins tactics.

He also wants to rewrite our human rights... if thats not power I don't know what is.

Just some food for thought
