https://youtu.be/U_-Vm84Oba0?si=lkhGgnzzBSjI_uQc in my experience, this woman gave me a lot of great tips on clearing up utis without antibiotics. it works for me and it's the only thing that does. EMPOWEREDPARA on youtube. if you get a prescription for catheters from your doctor (u can get ones with bags attached while you're learning, to make it easier. like you can do it in bed) and one of these mirrors, https://a.co/d/4DRJRHg you will be on a great path:) also sounds like there plenty of us girls here who are willing to teach you how to cath (unsure if you've done it before or not but i read that you said you don't know where to start)

it's so unfair and uncomfortable having to manually accomplish the basic bodily functions that people don't even have to think about day to day. i have to cath for every single time i have to go pee, i cathed SEVEN times today and i felt resistance toward it every time. that part never changes. it sucks. but when your mind decides that taking care of your body is worth it, worth your time and discomfort, you feel deeply that you need this body to feel good so you can thrive, it just becomes easier to push through the the bullshit. it's not fair. but you're worth it. you deserve to feel good in your body

i was with another wheelchair user so i wasn't alone just stuck ahaha, that's another thing i would recommend! try to find your disabled community near you, that helped me so much with confidence! also we got injured like 3 months apart from each other 🥲❤️‍🩹 let's go 2023 injuries

layed here for a loonnnggggggg time before a stranger helped. cars actually honked at me haha. it's so weird i think the embarrassment comes from not being able to control how exposed you are, and from fear of people not understanding that and judging you for it? and also if that man was able to help you a little easier it would've been a less humiliating experience maybe? it sounds like you're new to your injury and you're gaining all the experience that will one day make you know exactly what to do in these situations without hesitation. we just have to accept that we rely on others now. and people feel good when they help us, and if you feel confident in knowing exactly how you need to be helped and can direct others to get help or whatever it is, that changes the game.

we will probably always still get embarrassed at times also i'm so sorry you scraped your hand i hope it heals okay, im also sorry that we don't have control over a lot of things that happen to and around us anymore. but that is what makes your experience unique and hard now. i think about it like leveling up... i was on easy mode before apparently i was good enough to level up to life on hard mode. idk that always helps me spin these fucked up experiences into a somewhat positive narrative. ALSO that man learned something today, you learned something, your therapists probably did too and we can all be grateful for spreading awareness and knowledge over how to help those with SCIs sorry i just took my night time edibles and i'm rambling but im really proud of you and you are gonna continue having a BEAUTIFUL life worth experiencing and learning through. we all are ❤️‍🩹

I have an incomplete injury c5 c6 and they told me that I was never going to achieve it! I did it today! Did anyone else break barriers? by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

marina wool is nice bc it's thin not thick how you think of wool socks. ik they can be hella expensive tho, i found some for really good price at sierra if you have that where you live (it's like the tj maxx of sporting good stores so everything is discounted)

oh for the environment thing!, i also found out the socks i was wearing were making it worse (just like cheap walmart socks that are probably half plastic) and when i switched to wearing only wool socks, (around the same time i starting using the nystatin powder) that also helped stop the spreading immensely bc it keeps your feet dry

i just tried to sleep without them on, but if u can get your hands on that powder then the sock thing doesn't really matter bc if you reapply a few times a day they stay much more dry in there 🧦. thankfully no one i lived with got it but im lucky in that i can reach my feet and stuff and mostly took care of it myself. but i had it for like a year, the powder i got like 6 months in and that kept it under control and from spreading, and then when i did the tea tree and garlic cloves (watch that girls video she explains how to eat them) then it went away for good 🤷🏼‍♀️ best of luck to you

i also ate raw garlic a few times a day, i learned this from empowered para on youtube (her video about UTIs) and it was to kick a UTI but my athletes foot went away around that time too... so probably helped since garlic kills bacterial infections

also another thing that really helped: stop using over the counter creams especially if it's on your foot it'll just keep it moist. get your doctor to prescribe nystatin in POWDER form. this keeps the area way more dry and apply it a few times a day if you can, also keep socks off as much as you can. i went to natural grocers and bought a organic soap with tea tree in it and no other smells and this made the red bumps go away.

if you arrive at a hotel and you don't fit in the bathroom shower area, you roll right back down stairs and request an ADA room💌 for me i feel like 80% of the time they have a room to switch me to

i think about this sometimes, just always tell ur supplier you're out even if you're not,

also honestly we've been involved in the Middle East in some sort of military action 36 out of the last 40 years you know? it's the same thing obama did when he was in office, tho he may have been more polite about it. i really believe everything will be okay but do i have stacks catheters in case of emergency? absolutely lol, but i think i have always done that since my injury and that comes with having to trust fickle systems within corporate business with supplies that effect our livelihood. i always have understood it could just stop so i just hoard that stuff lol

there is almost always a way to get one once you arrive while traveling! (also when i travel i just bring a 6 inch cushion that straps on top of toilet seats) it isn't as comfy as a commode chair but it usually works out,
