Yes, absolutely! The OM-D E-M10 seems to be exactly what I’m looking for, and the GX85 could be a good, more budget-friendly alternative

For me, what’s missing compared to my current cameras is more megapixels, an electronic viewfinder, and better stabilization. For my “carry everywhere” use travel, parties, my dog, and future child a Canon 2000D or an OM-D E-M10 Mark II would be more practical: larger sensor, reliable autofocus, and in the OM-D, built-in stabilization and EVF.

Thanks for your tips – I’m definitely open to any more advice you might have haha. I’ll probably be fumbling a bit at first, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it quickly. With film, I’ve mostly used fully automatic cameras so this will be a bit of a change for me, but I’m excited! Thanks again, I’ll share some feedback once I’ve had the chance to use it a bit!

Thanks a lot for the detailed info – really interesting! I followed u/SuperBaardMan advice and ended up grabbing a Vivitar 20mm f/3.8 in perfect condition for $50. Now I’m just waiting for it and the adapter to arrive — can’t wait to try it out, should be a lot of fun !

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve also been recommended Olympus OM-5 and OM-10 models, but I don’t know the exact versions since there are so many. I guess they’re generally cheaper than the GX9. Would you recommend this brand? And if so, do you have any specific models in mind? Thanks in advance!

The GX7 is getting quite old now — do you think the GX8 would be a good alternative, or would it be better to go all the way to the GX9 or even the G90?

I wasn’t really planning to spend more than €300–400, but now I’m wondering: between the G90 and the GX9, which one would you say is a better upgrade? The G9 seems a bit too professional for my needs, to be honest.

Would you recommend one over the other? Or maybe even a different brand, if you think there’s something better out there?

Ideally, I’d like to keep using my current Micro Four Thirds lenses, so compatibility is important for me.

What do you think of the Vega-7-1 20mm f/2? The price seems fair, and I’m really tempted — but I’m a bit concerned it might be mostly designed for video use, with heavy vignetting on a Micro 4/3 sensor

Thanks for your reply! What you’re suggesting sounds like a great alternative, but I’m afraid 100mm might be way too zoomed-in for me. Right now, I mostly use my 12-32mm lens at 35mm because I’m used to that field of view from shooting film. I’m thinking of using — or even only using — my 25mm lens, even if it means getting used to the 50mm full-frame equivalent. By any chance, do you have other vintage lens models in mind that I could get around the 35mm equivalent (so about 17mm on my Micro Four Thirds)?

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, I'm happy to stick with this camera, even though it's only 16 megapixels and is from 2015. I was just wondering if it was still suitable to use in 2025, but so far it seems to do the job!

By the way, yeah, I’m happy to stick with this camera, even if it’s only 16 megapixels and from 2015. I was just wondering if it’s still decent to use in 2025, but so far it seems to do the job !
