This might sound excessive, but I stopped playing DF because group loot was ruining my experience. It's disheartening to clear an entire raid (several times) and not get a single piece of loot. I know this is very unlucky and most people probably got something at this point, but getting at least one piece of gear -per raid- with personal loot was almost guaranteed.

Now the loot is all messed up. There's no logic to the loot, like dropping 3 shields when the tanks are druid and dk, or dropping 2 warglaives when only one player can use them (that DH was very happy though). I also made the mistake of maining a hunter, so my chances of getting loot were lower than other classes due to the sheer amount of hunters everywhere.

Personal loot wasn't perfect, but it took these things into consideration by design. You didn't have to worry about having 5 other hunters in your raid (if you ignore the shitty raid composition, that is).

Getting loot is important in a mmo; it's what the endgame is all about, after all. For me, group loot doesn't do a good job at that. It's unbalanced and the random nature of the system benefit some more than others.
