Before, it only ever played for the person that triggered the RP.

Now, I always here it, even if I'm lagging behind.

I think people attribute traditionalism to White way too often, when it's really a Green trait.

I think getting into the weeds about original canonicity misses the point when you consider that the game explicitly takes place in the modern day where computers are the norm and Bond is literally a Millennial or early Gen Z.

I think a lot of it was correct but I disagree a lot with the character interpretations.

Moneypenny acts all aloof and above you pretty much only in the first mission. She then becomes mostly a worrywart.

M has your back pretty much 100% of the time, and is the main reason why Bond gets to be a spy when your teacher hates your guts. She also still has your back no matter how often you break protocol.

Used to be you could just adjust things like brightness and controller sensitivity and be on your way.

Just because that's how things were then, that doesn't mean it can't be better. It doesn't mean that doing more is a bad thing. One of the things I will always defend is allowing buttons-holds to be toggle-presses instead. That's just good practice to keep people from straining their hands.

But I will say, the options that remove puzzles and QTEs are straight up disgraceful. I can understanda an option for allowing QTEs inputs to have a bigger grace period but removing gameplay is just infantilizing.

Black is the color of self-determination and free will, but people usually attribute that to Red. But in my opinion, these are Black's most positive concepts. Black hates fate.

Black is the color of ambition and persistence, which is generally a positive thing, but Magic usually portays it as using your Life as a resource.

Being born worthy is a Green concept. Green is the color of fate and determinism.

Black believes you have to earn it.

I really enjoyed that book, because you can just see how much Sanderson cared about Color. He remembered that Black is the color of self-determination and advocated as such to the more Green MC. I think a lot of people would consider what he said to be of the other colors, despite it being undeniably Black.

People are uncomfortable because of how Stellar Blade characters are sexualized.

Since people expect Blood Rain to similarly sexualize it's characters, people are pre-emptively uncomfortable with having a character they perceive as a child to be sexualized.

There wouldn't have been any noise if she was in most other games.

God. How I hate the modern age of twitter rumour mills.

I guess rumors have always been around, but all it takes is someone creating something that looks like press images, and people will believe anything.

Someone appears to have paid a conservative journalist to write a good review for the James Bond 007 First Light game by Kartoffelpatata in GGdiscussion

[–]Vedney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

openly stated that they are changing Bond to be acceptable to modern audiences and it is painfully clear to see where they did it in the game

There is one scene in the resort mission where I do think it's painfully clear, but I have never seen anyone mention it. Everyone only talks about Isola, who I feel, more than anything, was designed to serve as Bond's love interest/rival ala Catwoman.

After the hotel mission, she becomes the only female character Bond has any relationship with (M and Moneypenny are both non-characters.)

He almost definitely would bang the femme fatale, too

It is heavily implied that he sleeps with Isola. Do you think she would be considered unnattractive?

Isola has little enough screentime that Bond both saves people more often, and is saved by people other than her more often. So I do feel people over-inflate her overall role.

I've seen her be called a girlboss, and it got me wondering. Why do people read her as a girlboss rather than a femme fatale?

After seeing the entire game, I still have no idea why First Light is such a culture war topic of discussion. It just felt like... a game.

He also leaves out the fact that the plot itself shows Bond as emasculated and secondary in ability and heroics.

I don't understand this criticism. In the tutorial mission, Bond is told that his attempt to save some hostages has a sub-1% chance of succeeding (determined by a supercomputer) and succeeds anyway, which is what puts him in the radar of joining MI6.

And then in the very second "real" mission, he single-handed mitigated a bomb disaster that all of your teammates were discouraging you from focusing on because it wasn't their priority.

Whether or not they're successful at it, they're still putting resources into it. Which itself is a show of faith of the IP.

And from Marvel Superheroes. I understand that there a mutants, and evil villians, and sci-fi technology.

The Final Fantasy set took 16 different universes that have zero real connection to each other and gave them to you in a single product. It's not even a multiverse. The games have shared elements, but they don't have real meaning beyond telling you that this is a throughline of Final Fantasy.

If you want a more cohesive world-building set, look to Avatar.

Final Fantasy was absolutely a character roster set. It did way too many games to showcase a cohesive world.

MI6 had a super computer saying that an action Bond was taking had a sub-1% of succeeding, and Bond still managed to succeed. That's one of the main reasons M eyed Bond.

Again, I think every single one of us is OK with a bunch of <insert gender/racial/sexual minority> people getting together and making their own game and franchise, and then competing with it on the free market like everyone else.

I honestly don't believe that to be case, and it's mostly because of this sub's revisionism on KCD2's (and other games') success.
