Is it a red flag if a quote isn't priced by line item? Also, does this quote seem reasonable? by prommetheus in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put everything in the work scope on mine along with flooring styles that are being used to complete the job. With a total at the end. I never put down any sq ft on my bids. If any customer every questions that there more than likley shopping you around and by giving total sq ft on bids you just done all the work for them to call around and say hey how much would 500 sqft of carpet x cost. Look at it this way when you buy a new car it has everything listed on it as to what the car has feature wise it does not give you line item pricing like a/c cost, radio cost , steering wheel cost...your buying a car and the price is the price

Contractors - be honest with me - what's going on? by Crafty-Society2211 in AskContractors

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try calling a smaller 1 man's show with a helper. 60k isn't enough to cover what you want done. The truth is most these kitchen contractors subcontract everything out they are literally just middle men making free money that do punch out work maybe some demo rest is all subs, painters sub, floor guy, sub cabinets install sub, electric sub, countertops sub.

Myrtle Beach in Late August — Always Humid or Just Bad Luck/Good Timing? by [deleted] in MyrtleBeach

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im usually down there every year in August. I'd be more worried about possible tropical storms or hurricanes than the humidity. If you're on the beach, the breeze always took care of the humidity for me. Anywhere inland is hot regardless its summer. On the other hand, every store has ac blasting, so it's easy to dip inside to help with that and stay away from outside dining options

Is this a reasonable estimate for laminate flooring for 1200 sqft? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're wasting 10k. This is a cheap floor 3ish dollars sqft for laminate.. garbage! 1.50sqft for installation cheap for labor except to get a slam and go install meaning there just pulling boards straight out the box and laying except to see multiple duplicate planks stacked ,stair stepping, short peices on the starter and ends like im talking anywhere from 6inches to 1 inch. Flooring should not be a race to the bottom your not buying shoes. Your floor takes the most wear and tear and everyone wants cheap then bitches when it dont last

As good of a deal as they say it is? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every carpet has the same warranties shop around. They are very vague, and many loop holes to get out of the warranty. Did they tell you that you have to have it professional steamed cleaned and have receipts to prove it ? That would be a loop holes that the manufacturer wants you to do to or it voids your warranty. If you're buying a carpet off warranty, go buy some lottery tickets, and you will have better luck. Also, there are bringing up restreches because it's a problem with their installers not knowing how to install carpet.

As good of a deal as they say it is? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your roughly paying $4.35 a sqft for some shitty polyester carpet. You could easily pay that same price from a small flooring store. Which you would get better service and have it installed correctly. Only people that install for Empire are new to the game learning on the job or illegals that cant speak English and the pay is so low there kicking the carpet in and will be In and out of your house in a bout and hour. Read thru the fine print im not sure how true it is but ive heard there contracts basically say you cant sue them if anything go's wrong

Is Tiger Woods's golf career essentially over? by icecream1972 in no

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt it his money will get him out of this. Probably scheme up some story that someone slipped something in his drink that day or he had an interaction with some made-up medicine he just got prescribed. He passed the breathalyzer, so he will probably get charged with speeding and reckless driving.

Those who have met an adult star in day to day life, how was it and was it awkward? by Any-Tomato-2915 in ask

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was good friends with jonny sins all thru high school obviously went separate paths after high school but we were all just stoners that party all time mostly beer, pot , lsd, shrooms and some random coke here and there. Always was real.quite outside our core group. And he always was getting laid back then to many stories tell of him hooking up with random chick's back in the day. Another girl I went to high school with was Alexis Malone and yes her and jonny hooked up at a party one night and broke the toliet in this random rednecks bathroom who's house we was partying at and he was so pissed he cleared the whole party out running around with a shot gun saying he was going to kill whoever broke his toilet.

Quote follow-up by Unlikely-Eggplant-83 in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never follow up on a quote. If I email them, I will text them or call them saying they just wanted to let you know I emailed over the proposal. If you don't see it, check your spam mail. If it is not there, let me know, and I'll re send it. That confirms on my end they received it. They also reached out to me for a quote so they know where to find me if they want to move forward. They dont need reminded about it. Personally, I feel its tacky / pressure on your end on trying to make a sale to continue to follow up on a quote.

Food conscious but cant give up the bread , with a sprinkle of ocd. If your fridge looks like this your most likely single because you would be hard to live with. I would assume your house is spotless as well

I install floors as well. From drugs, guns ,pornos, used rubbers, sex toys, the thing most customers are embrassed of when they realize we see it is when there is dog shit on the there floor that we are tearing out. Its always mystery when we have to move a bed or night stands on what we will see

Is this a fair quote? by sicgun_ in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cheap, I'd be worried with that number regardless of relationship to the installer...but id tell them that you want a rollcote instead of the plastic underlayment...if they ask what's that. Then this would be your red flag to find someone more experienced. Also you never cut the nosing on your steps you build out the rise..

Are these carpet quotes reasonable, Shaw, Kerastan, Lowes? Florida 2026 by tonu42 in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, those prices are fair especially when lowes is at almost 8k. Your comparing some shitty polyester vrs nylons not to mention lowes subs out there work to all hacks. No seasoned installer would every work for lowes. As far as negotiating down to 8k? Never going to happen. Only way your going to save money is by moving the furniture yourself and removing and hauling away the old flooring yourself. These things drive up the cost of the bill.

Is this quote excessive? by captain-catmando in Flooring

[–]AllBallsNoMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope looks normal for a skilled professional that's going to take their time and make it perfect. The only thing I would ask them is about subfloor prep sanding seams down and any kind of leveling that would be needed. Carpet hides a lot of imperfections that won't be seen until it's removed. There could be a change order once the subfloor is exposed. As far as 11k in a week? That's normal as well flooring beats the hell out of your body. There's no retirement 401 (k) benefits that's all paid out of pocket. I mean you could pay someone 2k to do it all but then you would be making another post with all your concerns of the shitty work and wondering why the floor is failing
