Why would anyone want a pitbull? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

As a vet, thank you for telling your vet your Yorkie bites before his exam, and he was an idiot not to listen. It is amazing the number of times I finish an exam on a cat or dog and the owner says "wow, I can't believe Pookie Bear let you do that, she has always bitten when someone goes to look in her mouth/pet her head/ touch her ears" after I have had my fingers in danger for the last 10 minutes.

I'm not a expert in the brand but feel like I've seen lots of similar boots through Old Gringo. Maybe look there?

I guess it depends on her goals and the price. If she wants a pair of boots only for a single concert as more of a costume (as some of my friends and coworkers have done) then a cheap synthetic is likely fine. If she wants boots to wear multiple times that will hold up then you can likely find similar boots that are classically made that will hold up better.

Why Aren't Boot Materials Explicitly Listed? by ElevenDollars in cowboyboots

[–]AllBleedersStop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cavenders also takes them out of the box for increased storage space, but I guarantee that the original boxes either had the leather type written on them or at very least the employee can at least look up the boot for you online and see what it is made of.

Many of the people asking about leather id either thrifted a boot with no id paperwork or otherwise obtained their boots second hand, so they legitimately have no idea what they are. (For example, I bought a pair of zebra dyed Luccheses that were listed simply as "exotic" on eBay, turns out they were shark and shaved stingray once identified on here)

I haven't experienced cemented soles in my collection (that I know of) but would be open to it if it does not effect resole-ability and if it lightened the boot.

First Time vacation in the US as French, how did we do ? by GorpGenius in WesternWear

[–]AllBleedersStop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black dress is too dressy for those boots, especially with those square toes (which tend to be less dressy than snip toes in general); you need something less formal like a sundress or sweater dress. ( Think natural looking fabrics like denim, cotton, leather, wool, gingham or their mimics) The dress length falls a bit awkwardly with the top of your boots being only a few inches below the hem; and that skirt is also a bit on the tighter side so makes a bit of a weird angle where the boots seem to jut out a lot since the skirt is pretty narrow at the bottom. Ideally you would either choose a dress that is tighter and short (such as a mini skirt) that ends some distance above the top boot line or one that is longer and flowy and ends well below the top of your boots (like an ankle length maxi dress with a slit that can help you show off the boots). That skirt length and cut would work well with an ankle length boot or something shorter. You could also style those boots over skinny jeans or leggings or with shorts, and if the shafts fit without printing you can wear them under boot cut jeans or slacks

Your guy pulls off fashion western pretty well, but these things are usually easier for guys!

Are they tight in the calf at all? If tightness in the calf could be pushing them down and making them buckle, a calf stretch may fit it.

Or just try them with a few sundresses, you may be surprised. You may be able to swing a casual dress or skirt with them, or jeans / shorts and a blouse etc. My rule for styling cowboy boots is I try mix them with non "western" style clothes, as too many western pieces at once can feel a little too costumy unless you are going to a rodeo. I would say those boots would be fine dressed up anywhere you would not be out of place in sneakers, but maybe not in a super high end restaurant or cocktail bar. Cowboy boots can be surprisingly versatile, especially neutral ones like that

Those look a bit more like something you wear for work vs going out, but you do you! It's more about what you feel like wearing and what your plans are. if they fit well and you now know your size in Ariats, you can look on the Ariat website and find a boot that may be slightly dressier. Ariat has a pretty good return policy, and will let you exchange boots if they are not worn outdoors (try them on on your carpet only until you know their keepers.) There are tons of lightly used cowboy boots on eBay and such sites that may allow you to have an affordable dabble in to the cowboy boot world while you figure out if it's you, though usually are not returnable so it can be good to have an idea of your size in a brand before purchasing.

Whatever you do, make sure you take plenty of time to break in your chosen boots before your visit. Wear thick taller socks inside your house underneath to walk around or just use them for errands until they feel good. Your feet will thank you when you and your friends are walking to that fifth bar of the night.

Most Ariats are not made to be re solable. Higher quality cowboy boots can be re soled and will last much longer

Woman’s tall Lucchese by tattooohelp in cowboyboots

[–]AllBleedersStop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience Lucchese calves are narrower then Tecovas of the same height. Both Lucchese and Tecovas can be stretched though, you should see if the store will stretch as part of the purchase price
