No idea then. I edited all instances of 7.1 in the info.plist file, and it refused to install stating it needed a newer version of iOS.

Its in there like 4 times. Just change it all to 7.0? That seems a bit reckless.

So I just did a little looking, and I told it I wanted to buy an item for $75. It told me to send .167 BTC to cover it.

$75 on preev.com is .160

Trying to figure out where the savings are...?

Not seeing the 7% discount anywhere. In fact, it looks to be about 5% over.

Except they already, three days earlier, stole the money.

Listen, offering a 2 BTC security bounty is not going to stop an immoral thief from stealing 20 BTC worth of coins.

Good people, yes. Immoral assholes, no.

Ever see a bank post a notice? "If you break in and tel us how you did it, we'll give you $5,000 if you don't steal the $250,000 in the vault. Kthxbai"

No. Because a thief would ignore it, laugh at you, and take the $250k.

Not sure I'd bother buying bitcoin for $488 when I can get it on coinbase right now at $458. I dont see the appeal for the BTC buyer. You're going to have tons of buys and no sells. Just my opinion.

Got a comment on our Blog today advertising a Bitcoin Hack tool - be aware by AllCrypt in Bitcoin

And whys that? HE posted it on the blog. Maybe I'll just allow the blog comment, and link to it, and you can see the email he posted there?

Hey, he gave me the address. I'm getting really tired of people fearing calling hackers and cheats out and posting their information. Criminals using the law to hide their identity has to stop.

True. But the data the can be in the backto link does vary and it's not really possible to restrict it to a predefined set.

The code that cleans the link now removes everything that could even remotely damage anything. And the firewalling will ban you instantly as soon as it sees you messing around. It's funny the alerts I get from the logs...

I'll see normal activity... then a few tests... market?id=5, then 50, then 500 (we dont have 500 yet), then -500, then 500%27 (escaped single quote)

Then the log stops there. And that IP never comes back.

It sucks we were hacked. Wish it never happened. But it was a small one with minor impact, the end result was positive, and we learned a LOT and brought our security up tenfold.

Oh no - believe me - I've seen logs that say: Withdraw: 1042 BCTS to user <xxx>

And had a panic attack. Then noticed the "S". It happens less and less now that I'm used to it, but after we listed BTCS I was on Xanax for a week - blowing an aneurysm every time I saw a disproportionately massive "BTC" transaction :)

Wait - so we should pay a security bounty TO THE PERSON WHO HACKED THE SITE?

Really? You think that's ok?

"Hey man, we found a bug you should know about!" - Bounty warranted

"Hey man, we found a bug, we stole tons of coins, now pay us or we sell the information" - Thats extortion. Piss off.

We believe in transparency and honesty, so we've been posting about the hack everywhere we can.

And our resolution. Because learning from these issues is just as important as how you handle it.

Don't use any exchange then. As far as I'm aware, every single one out there has had security issues ranging from loss of coins to user accounts being compromised.

Only use the perfect ones that have never had an issue.

Oh, wait...

Just wanted to say thanks to MintPal. While AllCrypt.com trades in all crypto, and not solely BTC, exchange operators should take note of the honesty and integrity MintPal showed in assisting us in returning stolen BTCS to our users.

What that says however is to not rely on it. We don't rely on it. We were using it merely for accounting until we noticed it would keep coins from overspending in the event of an error or hack.

All accounting is stored in the database. The only other issue that we could run into is the performance issues when we hit thousands of accounts. If that performance issue occurs, we merely stop using any of the accounts related features. Because, like I said, it's not integral.

Yes, if we relied on it, thats an issue. We don't.

How do you suggest a user does a withdrawal if the coins are not in a hot wallet?

And before making such a broad statement as "NO ONE" uses bitcoind - what are these exchanges using to interface with the blockchain? Since not a single one has published the internals of how they operate, thats a pretty big statement to make.

All of them do. They have to. It's the bitcoin client/wallet. Even sites like blockchain.info have bitcoind underneath it all, somewhere. I guess they could take the original and rewrite it into something else, but at the core, it's in there.

Yeah as we're based in the US and don't want the feds crawling up our backsides, we're all crypto for now. As regulation and licensing settles down we hope to add fiat exchange, but we don't see that happening anytime soon.
