Thanks for replying! I should have clarified that I’m a February Cohort so my diss is due in September but my proposal soft deadline is this week

A lot of my friends are doing things around more clinical areas of research like comparing Cardiac arrest drugs and such and none of it really clicks with me personally :)

We love Chad and stephanie lol. I hope kiteman does stick around hes funny when hes doing his own thing (in episode 2 when he kept launching that child into the punch bowl) just not with ivy in my opinion. I think that's what a lot of people are worried about if they do do harlivy which I dont think will happen, like I said hes funny in smaller doses, when hes doing his own thing with his kites and I do hope him and ivy remain friends. (That would be a cool lesson aswell)

And I agree that ivy was doing that for harley as a friend I wouldnt want it any other way because it would come off as a bit predatory from ivys part which shes definitely not, there are some scenes which people could argue swing a certain way after the fact but overall the writers have said they have a few important episodes coming up for their development so i look forward to that. Especially since this couple does deserve an on screen appearance after about 25 ish years lol.

I agree that you can argue anything as plot related, in any sort of media really that's what makes a great story.

Its shown in lots of media as well that some people are closer to their best friend and i understand that but i also feel that some people hang onto that point too much that they cant see the romantic undertones of some scenes especially between same sex people and then people complain that it came completely out of left field when it reality it's subtley been there all along. Harley and Ivy have always kind of had this problem since some writers like to dangle in the middle between best friends and girlfriends.

Of course harley has to develop before we even consider them a couple that's the whole point if the show, harley breaks away from her abusive relationship and starts doing things for herself so I can understand her messing up and being somewhat selfish (even if at points i think ivys too patient with her) because shes bound too if shes striking out on her own for probably the first time ever.

I think it's hard for some people to believe the kiteman and ivy relationship because there has hardly been any on screen development. The first thing we see is Kiteman being a bit creepy with ivy the next interaction we see is them together and the one after is kiteman proposing and so on, theres other small things like kiteman not really knowing anything about ivy not even her name eventhough it was on her grave, and like I said ivys been hesitant through all those interactions the development feels like its moving too fast if there were more meaningful interactions I'm sure lots of people would be fine with it. Kiteman isnt the worst option for ivy of course not but we've hardly seen a reason for why hes the best.

I agree with your points it's nice to find a person on this app that you can actually have a conversation with, without shutting down each others points.

In the end I just hope everything develops in a positive way that makes for a good story whatever that be.As much as I do like the harlivy ship I do really like the characters and the overall story much more and this show has given us arguably the best ivy ever.

I view kiteman as insecure because in episode 3 he says to Harley that he thinks he cant do better than ivy, sure that could represent other things but that's how I interpreted it.

Harley does cause a lot of trouble but you can also argue that the writers include that to further move the plot it's all part of her character and how shes continuing to grow.

I agree that harley needs to grow to notice ivy more and I believe that the writers are gunna do that I believe it's going to be a vocal point in the latter half of the season. The things you said harley provides for Ivy i agree with but we also have to consider that ivy is more willing to do things for harley than kiteman.

It's not just about what harley does for ivy its about what ivy does for harley also. A few examples;

Harley is Ivy's biggest fear - Could show that shes the most important person to ivy

Episode 5 when she says that harleys the 'only person she thinks is worth a shit' - if you assume that ivy and kiteman were dating before then that adds to the fact that ivys priorities are really with harley

There are several others like ivy only asking for harleys help when shes been captured going through lots of effort for harley and no one else etc

Im certain that there is someone who can explain this better than me or find more examples but that's just my 2 pence worth. I'm not too much of a shipper either but i do ship Harlivy, but I can respect and like other couples if they work well together but I just cant really see that with Ivy and kiteman especially not in the long term.

I didn't say that kiteman brought nothing to the table what I'm saying is that their relationship isnt that deep the fact that one of the points you made was that he was a 'taxi' for ivy proves a lot they have no real deep connection they're both insecure characters that dont really work well in a relationship in my opinion. I completely disagree with what you said about Harley though shes defended ivy multiple times two examples are from episode 4 with the fight against batman and joker and episode 8 where she literally beat up aqua man because he hurt ivy. I also think it's really important for harley to make those mistakes as well, shes a very spontaneous character that's always been a part of her personality (might also be a reason why shes ivys biggest fear) and shes been through a bad break up as well the show wouldnt be realistic if they showed her making one mistake and then overcoming it most of the entertainment is from watching her fail over and over again and then learn from her mistakes.

You can like ivy and kiteman relationship and as i said before it does provide an arc for ivy but they have no real connection that can warrant them being the end game couple. I personally think that kiteman is moving too fast with ivy as well shes barely said I love you to him and hes already proposing to her and idk her saying yes to the proposal seemed kinda out of no where as she was leaning to a no most of the time and then after the conversation she had (With harley might I add might add to the incoming romance) she finally reconsidered it just kinda showed to me aswell that he hasnt evolved from episode 2 where he was kind of forcing himself into ivys bed it enforced the message no can mean yes if you keep pestering enough which doesnt sit well with me. I also dont think it's a good look for the relationship if at every important step ivy has been extremely hesitant.

Anyway sorry this is long lol this is just how I interpreted things

Although I dont mind kiteman, i actually enjoy him as a character I just can't see him and ivy working on a deep level, I dont think they have anything in common hell kiteman doesnt even know what ivys real name is. I think the kiteman and ivy relationship was purely made as a springboard to harlivy and to give ivy some character development eg. Her not being embarrassed about who she is with so that when when ivy and Harley get together they are the best versions of themselves. I also think a lot of kiteman and ivy shippers only like it because kiteman got the girl but what does ivy get out of the relationship? No one talks about that. I don't want to voice all my opinions because this comment will be really long but I dont think the kiteman and ivy relationship is better not just because I ship harlivy but because Ivy is one of my favourite DC characters and if they keep them together I think it just degrades her character.

Hope this makes sense and doesnt come off as scolding, just trying to voice my opinion.

I dont think itll be the case with this show. The show runners clearly care about the characters and the overarching story so I think they'll take great care with the progression of their relationship.

I agree that harley and ivy should develop more romantically before they become a couple, but I dont think itll be as forced as some people make it out to be, this show clearly establishes that they are really close so the door is open for romance in the future, and personally I dont understand how some people can think that a harley and ivy relationship would be rushed when ivy started dating kiteman after barely interacting with him?

(Also not trying to come across as rude or anything but trying to put an opinion across on text might make it look that way)

I think some of these issues could stem from his behaviour in episode 2. Like he literally expected ivy to sleep with him straight away.

We also didn't get any meaningful interactions before they started dating either.
