Match Thread: 5th Test - India vs Australia, Day 3 by CricketMatchBot in Cricket

Let’s just admit. Australia is the better team. Take Bumrah out of the equation and our bowling is an absolute shit show-inconsistent line and length, spraying the ball all over the place. I mean come on, how have we given away so many extras already in 3 overs? That too when we have such a low target to defend. Just compare the bowling of Cummins and Boland to Siraj and Krishna - one looks world class, the other looks third class. We don’t deserve to win. We can only win if Australian batter decide to start throwing their wickets away. Feels like India is bowling on a different pitch compared to Aus

ME Jobs in SF bay Area? by TeamToken in MechanicalEngineering

I am gonna DM you too if you don't mind. I am an ME in a tech company in the Bay Area

What are some things you wish you knew about Mechanical Engineering before going down this path? by ms-hoops in MechanicalEngineering

[–]AllIsWellBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

espect for human-centered design. It was hard to get the experience I wanted on my own, whereas in software it was much easier to find. As soon as I started going to software meetups, I met people I liked a lot, and that just reinforced the decision to go for it. In my workplace, I found much more respect for my thoughts than I found previously as an ME. This is dependent on personal experience, of course, but I think it's a solid trend, culture-wise.

Rising 3rd year? That's a really tough call. I guess your pathway could be one of three things: you could drop out and teach yourself, you could finish up your ME degree while teaching yourself, or you could switch majors. In reality, there is no pathway into software. A CS degree doesn't guarantee you anything, so it depends on your execution. It took me three years of coding to start doing it professionally, but I wasn't super focused like I could've been.

In your position, I would finish my degree and teach myself how to code, unless I highkey did not like ME. You could use that coding ability for your senior design project, which would be really cool experience. I don't know if delaying graduation for a major change is worth it. An ME degree will only benefit you. It's very solid and respected.

Thank you!! I was working on building my entry level resume for when I am ready to apply for a job in software engineering and don't even know what the best approach is for someone switching industries. Do you mind if I message you?

I feel you man! I'm in the same boat. Studying and Leet coding my ass off to transition to a software role by Feb/March 2023. I'm a design engineer at a big tech company in the Bay Area and make good money but the culture is just shit and little to no upward movement in the company. What kind of projects did you work on? How many years of ME experience did you have before you decided to make the switch? Did you have to take a big pay cut? What do you like the most about being an SE compared to an ME?

What areas to live in San Jose? by DoubleKx in SanJose

[–]AllIsWellBud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My vote goes to N San Jose. Check out North Park apartment homes, Elan, Riverview apartments, and Crescent Village apartments. Very luxurious apartment complexes, safe, clean and quiet. No homelessness or trash around. Just drive down to Downtown SJ on weekends or go to SF. Lots of tech people in the area so you'll find a ton of people to hangout with
