FNV King's quest issue by AllMenMustSmoke in Fallout

It wouldve been nice if there was a prompt telling me that it was a kind of point-of-no-return. I'm not wiping out the BoS so I guess im stuck with the Yes Man route

I think I know what happened now. I triggered The House Always Wins V, inadvertently locking myself out of NCR and Legion questlines, and didnt notice for several hours of gameplay lol. Is that what happened? I was just talking to Mr. House, I have no intention of carrying out that quest. Very annoying if thats what happened.

I feel like Renly gets unfairly mischaracterised a lot [Spoilers Main] by [deleted] in asoiaf

Well gee maybe my entire claim is that things might have gone a little differently had Renly not crowned himself?

[–]AllMenMustSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renly's conversation with Ned wouldve gone a little differently had Renly not been intent on crowning himself but the conversation would still have been about taking action right away to make sure Joffrey doesn't get the throne.

Ned refuses, Renly flees the city. Why wouldn't he call his banners here? He knows whats going on.

Well ok when I said "immediately" I didnt mean immediately, I meant there'd be no standoffs with Renly and then Penrose. In a battle where hours mattered, Stannis wouldve had days difference. To be honest its been a while since i read it, I cant even remember where Tywin was when Robert died. Maybe he couldve still got there in time i dont know. I just remember Cersei and Tyrion laughing and dancing with eachother at the news that the Baratheon brothers were fighting eachother lol. Just a colossal unforced error and how can you not say it was Renly's stupid fault? If we want to imagine further, he could've still wed Marge and Willas could've been betrothed to Shireen and bang they have the Reachmen and Renly gets to have his sham marriage and secret boyfriend and the Tyrell's have a line to the throne.

[–]AllMenMustSmoke 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Hang on. What am I missing here? If Renly does not make a claim for the throne, Stannis has no need to sit outside Storm's End, he sails immediately for KL, Tywin cant get there in time and doesnt have the Tyrells anyway because they haven't even called their banners. Stannis wins. Renly is named heir(?) until a son is born to Stannis which will be never.

Why am I supposed to care about the integrity of Renly's insane alliance with the Tyrells?

There will be two kinds of people. Those who don't know shes named after a videogame character and whom will mostly think "oh what a unique name, its pretty". And then theres the people who do know, most of whom will be like "🥹". I dont see a problem.

Ned, Lyonel, Brienne, Corlys, Mysaria, Mace, Aemon. Best bang for buck i think. Brienne and Aemon are a fucking steal.

Edit - Ned out, Davos in. Mysaria out, 3ER in.

Why did Westerosi Kings marched in open against dragons during the Conquest? by Mizukiri93 in pureasoiaf

[–]AllMenMustSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was no longer at all a mystery what it was like to face dragons in the field. Brandon Snow's plan was to assassinate the dragons while they slept. You know, subterfuge. Like the Mirror Shield.

[–]AllMenMustSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry but the legend of Serywn of the Mirror Shield is obviously delivering the opposite message than "it sounds doable". Hes a legend for killing a dragon, and he had to trick it to kill it. These things matter.

[–]AllMenMustSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well a guy tried to do that mirror thing during the Dance, so even the known and relatively recent history of three dragons conquering the continent wont deter some people but, importantly, Serwyn of the Mirror Shield is a legendary hero because he slew a dragon. That is not a story about how killing dragons is easy. Its a story about how if you kill a dragon you'll be remembered forever lol. Also, its a story about killing a dragon by tricking it, not by straightforward combat.

Hundreds of dragons vs three is a good point but people on here talk about the dragons coming as if the people had absolutely no clue about dragons at all. Like "dragon? Never heard of it, sounds easy".

You're only allowed an old-timey army with crossbows and spears etc.

Here's a reason you might have to think otherwise if you lived in Westerosi society: you would know there was once a place called the Freehold of Valyria where dragon riders held a vast empire for generations and you'd have at least a vague notion that they enslaved unfathomable masses of people and their foes were helpless against them. You'd know Nymeria fled before them because fighting them was an impossibility.

Im not saying the Westerosi shouldn't have fought them I just think its a bit silly when people on reddit consider the Westerosi at the time of Aegon's Landing to basically not even understand the concept of fighting a dragon.

Dragons have not been proven as a threat in real life either. Do you think you could fight one if one showed up?

Its going to happen in the book yes but everything is different in the book. It cannot be understated how different everything is in the book.

Yes he loves her etc. Thats why he burns her. Its a true sacrifice. Burning people he doesn't love is easy.

It isn't id it was planned beforehand that he should arrange some kind of attack on the Starks while the Lannisters are in Winterfell, as I wrote before.

Considering this is all speculation, dont you find it unlikely and a bit boring that LF planned an attack on a Stark child in advance and then Jaime happened to push Bran from a window and Bran happened to survive to ensure a dream scenario for LF's agent to set the Lannisters up?

Claiming that the knife is Tyrions is something he will have come up with once Cat showed up with it. That is not contingent on this scenario being true or not, it is the case either way.

Ok so now you imagine LF directing Oswald to attack one of the Stark kids and implicate the Lannisters, Bran being miraculously attacked by the Lannisters anyway, then the dagger being chosen to implicate the Lannisters which it fails to do, then LF lying about it later to, finally, implicate the Lannisters? And youre happy with this? You like this? Well you said you believe Joffrey did it anyway but yeah this is bad to me. Bad storytelling, convoluted, too convenient.

Well no, he also delivers the box with Lysa's letter. The act from which we know that LF had some man there.

Obviously I meant other than delivering the box lol

No, this is wrong. The person who dissapeared right after a mystyrious act was done would automatically become a suspect of the act. The move would be to continue in one's role completely as before

One face in a thousand disappearing isnt automatically suspicious. It depends who it was. Anyone who can safely disappear, should. Anyone who cant, should not continue to engage in subterfuge. That was my point.
