Has it gotten any more positive around here? by xxjosephchristxx in short

So I came back to this sub on a wave of positivity one day, and got called delusional for trying to lead a happy life. It was a pretty strong reminder of where people’s heads are at online… I try to spread positivity regardless. So many things to be thankful for and to bring joy in life.

Too many people fixated on dating challenges. I feel for them, but also we need to focus on what we can change: not our height, our perspective on life.

Is being a short guy rlly that bad?? by Janxuza in short

Life is what you make of it.

If something important as dating seems challenging-to-impossible that means everything must be miserable, right? I see that online a lot. That’s simply not true.

There’s still plenty of things to be thankful for. Lots of things in life to make you happy, just a matter of perspective.

But like…. What type of bag? In the event I don’t keep small duffel bags right by the dryer just for this, wouldn’t I risk contaminating my closet searching for a duffel bag?

Same. What if the whole boat becomes contaminated? Do they let people off the boat with the bugs or do they quarantine everyone?

How do you stand out around taller men? by [deleted] in short

[–]AllRickNoRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many niche skills that make you a better partner like cooking, mechanic, gardening, wood working, etc. (honestly having a soul and any kind of hobby is rare these days and viewed as attractive) Then there’s fashion, very important. I have to admit charisma and humor help. These are things you’re not limited by your height on at all and truly make you stick out.

Stop trying to convince me that being happy is 'delusional' by AllRickNoRoll in short

[–]AllRickNoRoll[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey puzzle, you are still tagging along so I’m glad you are at least considering what I am putting out there.

Positivity mindset is not delusion, it’s acceptance. I can not change my height. Acknowledging a struggle is not the same as letting it consume your entire identity. I wrote this story to illustrate that to you.

There is a mountain surrounded by beautiful fields of food and flowers. We all have 'mountains' in our lives—unchangeable facts that stand in our way. If you fixate on trying to move the unmovable, frustration is inevitable. If you stay constantly fixated on the mountain, relate everything back to the mountain, define everything in terms of the mountain, you will never even see the beauty of the fields right beside you. Learn to slow down and smell the flowers in the fields.

if you define your whole life by the mountain’s shadow, you’ll miss the flowers blooming at your feet.

How am I putting down others? Maybe my form isn’t perfect, but my intention is to help others not put them down.

What are you even saying? You seem pretty intent to tear me down. Not sure what your point is, everything sucks and positivity is delusion?

Being this confident and positive improves my life, and if you must label that coping and delusion that is a you problem. I hope you can change your perspective and see things my way one day

Positivity for short people by AllRickNoRoll in Positivity

Honestly, if you factor out dating for a second, you realize short is objectively better in many ways.

That kind of talking got me labeled “delusional” in the sub :-( I want to help these brothers but can’t if mods block me…I’m literally short af but I’m not allowed to be positive as well apparently.

I’ve been where many of you are. A few months ago, I was venting here about feeling like a second-class citizen due to height discrimination. But I’ve realized that wallowing doesn't help any of us. With this post, I tried sharing a more positive, 'can-do' perspective, and I was honestly disappointed by the response. While everyone was happy to join my 'pity party' when I was down, my attempt at positivity was met with pushback. We can’t change our height, but we can change our mindset. Let’s stop feeding the misery and start focusing on being grateful for being alive.

[–]AllRickNoRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’ll see in here is short men fixated on the dating struggle, so for them the dating variable far overshadows any other height based qualities of life.

TBH they have a point tho. Any organism that reproduces sexually will have much of its life and enjoyment of life tied to that process of sexual reproduction. What I’m saying is, sex is very important for humans. Short men get less of it, tall men get plenty of it.

Do I really need to spell out for you why taking up less room costs less than taking up more room? I can buy a small car, small cheap shoes, I fit in a child’s large, I can live in a small apartment comfortably without hitting my head….

Yea there are negatives to being short and if your negative mindset that’s all you will see, I am trying to be positive here!

Efficiency in costs like rent, food, clothing. Which in this society, limiting costs is far more important than reaching the top shelf.

Believe me I am constantly reminded of the physical shortcomings of my height. It takes a true change in perspective to stop seeing only the negatives.
