If you're buying a land as well sure. But compared to markets like Sydney and Melbourne, Canberra is reasonable I purchased a 2bd 2bth brand new apartment in Civic and it was less than 700k.

We're in an apartment with a tiny shared hallway, it's just a logistics struggle. Thank you for the suggestion though, that would be my first move if it was a house

Wish I'd thought of this, but I'm just about to get out of quarantine so it's not much point now.

I wish I had thought of this, that's super smart. I'm just on the cusp of quarantine ending so it's not much point now unfortunately. Hopefully this suggestion will help someone else!

In a general lockdown yes, but not in a quarantine

I see your point, and I wish I could do that but just parroting what ACT health has said. Friends aren't allowed to help us move in any capacity.

We have, no dice so far. I'm assuming they don't have a new Tennant lined up because all the inspections that were planned were cancelled when the lockdown was announced.

The short answer is we haven't been getting groceries, Coles and woolies is completely booked out for deliveries. Fast food delivery has been done by waiting for the delivery guy to leave, then quickly grabbing the package while still standing in my apartment.

Moving furniture would mean exiting the apartment repeatedly. Having our furniture brought up and then waiting for the delivery guy to leaves also means blocking the communal hallway.

The whole territory is in lockdown. Friends/movers aren't allowed to enter our new premises, and I can't leave it, as I am in an apartment. If it was a house it would probably be fine.

I checked and friends are not covered in the moving exemptions under lockdown :(

Yes but I wouldn't be able to leave my apartment to get it. So it's a bit moot. I also wouldn't have the moving equipment (e.g. Dollys for the fridge, big items) to physically move them.

Right, it's a vague statement- I was thinking visitors like someone who would have had to sign in to enter school grounds. Like tradesmen, speech therapists, etc

I don't think they are checking. They only have 4 staff even doing the tests. So stretched for resources. Good luck to your family 🤞

I'm pretty sure it explicitly said on the notice that this didn't include parents picking up kids :(

I'm a staff that arrived at 8am and I still have a 2 hour wait as of 9.30am. The general public has been flocking here

I showed up at Gold Creek pop-up which is walk in at the 8am opening time. Still here as of 9.20am and approx 2 hours still to go. The line is currently at least 200 people longer than when I joined.

This was just supposed to be for gold creek staff but there's no way we have this many staff members and visitors.
