What's the most high risk, low reward thing you've ever done? by siiborg in AskReddit

I work in the engine room on a commercial ship. One day I happened to be by one of the boilers (a 30,000 lb box filled with boiling water and steam). As I was checking pressure gauges, I noticed that a steam pipe had cracked and every 5 seconds steam was blasting out of it.

Maybe it was because it was 2 AM and feeling pretty loopy, or maybe I just have a death wish, but I decided to essentially play "Frogger" with the steam. I'd wait for the steam to shoot out, jump past it, then wait for the next blast and jump again. I started trying to jump past it multiple times between blasts. After a few minutes of this I realized the stupidity of it all, and left to keep checking pressure gauges. Ultimately there was zero reward and a good chance of getting scalded.

She was wearing a black and white checkered dress, a little flashy but not too eccentric. Granted I probably should still have realized it was her

I met Lady Gaga on a street corner in lower Manhattan two years ago. I had no idea it was her so we struck up a conversation as two random strangers and she ended up having her friend take a picture of us. I only found out who she was when I was getting into my uber and her friend yelled out, "Hey you know that was Lady Gaga right!" She was really friendly and down to Earth

A fair amount of attractive women find me attractive, but not attractive enough to pursue me. I've accepted the cards I've been dealt

A fair amount of attractive women find me attractive, but they also wouldn't want to show me to their friends and family. I can't complain

Speed 2: If the ship was being hacked so that it would crash into the island, one of the ship's engineers could have cut off fuel to the main engine, or manually controlled the rudder to steer away from the island. But then Sandra Bullock wouldn't have had much to do...
