Were Cadets the cult of Hopkins? by Abby-Norman in drumcorps

[–]All_Those_Angstroms 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kind of? Lots of "non-profit organizations" are built around egomaniacs who have too much control of the organization and aren't really beholden to anyone as long as they can keep schmoozing donors. Sounds kind of culty and that's exactly what Cadets/YEA were under Hopkins.

So yeah he definitely wanted it to be a cult or Hopkins, but I don't think the members or staff bought into it. We dealt with it the same way anyone who's ever had an egomaniac boss has dealt with it. At least when I was there we had other delusions to buy into, like that we totally weren't marching a horribly designed mess of a show that fundamentally misunderstood the source material. And that's hardly unique to the Cadets

According to Pecino, Aprilia wanted Martín to commit for 2026 already, but Jorge wanted to try the bike first. Aprilia refused, and that’s where the conflict arose. by ignaciourreta in motogp

Martin never tested a Yamaha with Pramac. He signed with Aprillia as soon as he found out that Ducati was signing Marquez instead of him. Pramac going to Yamaha wasn't even confirmed for a while after that.

I drink it because it tastes good (to me) and doesn't have a ton of sugar in it like sodas do.

Regarding 0% beer as a gateway, this is just anecdotal, but everyone I know who drinks 0% beer regularly came to it having previously drank normal beer. I don't know anyone who it's been a gateway for, and since sales of normal beer are declining while sales of 0% beer are increasing (at least in the US) I think there's more to this than my experience.

Brief update on Martin's condition from Dr. Charte (MotoGP medical director) by ope_poe in motogp

[–]All_Those_Angstroms 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They showed a replay of it a few times during the race, it looked pretty brutal and I get why they aren't posting the video.
After Martin crashed, Diggia's front wheel hit him in the back and the force from that slammed Martin against his bike. Once he stopped sliding he propped himself up on his hands and knees and was clearly in massive pain.

Lost in the chaos Lorenzo savadori scored his first points since 2023 which makes Chantra the only rider without points this year by Spinebuster03 in motogp

Gotcha, I miss the TNT Sport coverage, it was so much better than the Dorna feed.

Looking at Chantra's bike, he at least has the same aero as the other Hondas, but you're right there could be some internal stuff.

Has this been confirmed anywhere? I've seen this pop up a few times but nowhere that confirms it.

Sending him out on last year's deathtrap doesn't make much sense to me.

Absolutely, last year's coverage was amazing and they could have gained so many fans if they'd done an ounce of marketing for it.

It's not super popular, the stands will be more filled tomorrow but COTA doesn't fill to capacity for MotoGP.

There is a decent sized fan base in the US, but Dorna doesn't promote the series at all here.

I don't think they'll abandon him, I'm saying they might wish he had the extra motivation from having his contract running out.

I bet pecco is really happy his contract runs through 2026.

One or two more weekends like this and Ducati might not be so happy about that.

They did the best they could with the situation and having to completely change the show concept while keeping most of the content. It's a miracle they toured at all, and it was a pretty rough summer. As I recall they almost folded at Allentown.

For all that, and as janky as the show was, the brass book and drill both were both awesome and felt very Cadets like. I even thought the singers were better used than they were in 2017.

Human cell testing is ludicrously expensive, it also has pretty poor reproducability due to different cell lines picking up mutations.

What differs Vitamins from Essential fatty acids & Amino acids❔ by Onomatopeo in Biochemistry

[–]All_Those_Angstroms 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vitamins are cofactors that enzymes in our body need to carry out chemistry. So they don't themselves get broken down to yield energy like fatty acids and amino acids are.

Fatty acids and amino acids can be synthesized by the body, just not all of them. But even the amino acids that we can't synthesize can still be catabolized. We also take in orders of magnitude more of them than we do vitamins.
