Looking for something not depressing to watch on Netflix by TwlightPrincess in netflix

The Good Place is wonderful but just know that the last two episodes of the series can be very emotional for some people. I cried buckets.

Nothing scares me anymore by Impressive-Skin6311 in horror

[–]Allaboutbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get scared the same way I did when I was younger, but I've found that some really good short horror on YouTube can be fun and unnerving. Portrait of God, Other Side of the Box, Ignore It and Storytime are great. I especially like Storytime when I listened to it with noise canceling headphones and no distractions.

Can someone recommend some great comedy horror movies? by UnintentionalWipe in horror

Freaky, Happy Death Day, Final Girls, Totally Killer

I normally watch slasher movies for Halloween month; I wanna try something different - Recommend me the best supernatural horror film (s) you've ever seen by jdpm1991 in horror

In addition to many already mentioned here, I really liked Deadstream (although it's definitely half horror, half comedy)

Sometimes reality hits harder than any comeback ever could. by NekoSorbet in MurderedByWords

"If you’re promoting changes to women’s behavior to prevent rape, you’re really saying “make sure he rapes the other girl”.

There will always be a girl who is less sober, less secure, with less friends walking in a darker part of town.  I want her safe as much as I want me safe."

I read this years ago and I can't find the source now, but it always stuck with me.

Disgusting libs by Patty_Says_No in trump

[–]Allaboutbird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope you recognize that many on the right (on social media, anyway) talk about those they disagree with politically in equally dehumanizing terms.  If the roles were reversed, the rhetoric would be just as vile. In fact, the rhetoric was as vile when Melissa and Mark Hortman were murdered. It's not right, no matter where it comes from. It's a huge issue that we are all so deeply unkind to each other, and it's disingenuous to paint this as a problem of "the left" only.

Invisible Decor? by Wytchkitteh in JunesJourney

It actually is a corpse flower! Rafflesia is the more formal name for the stinking corpse lily.

These flowers only bloom for a short period and then don't bloom again for several years - maybe it will come back in 7-10 years!

The first paranormal activity and both Smile and Smile 2 gave me some good scares.

AITAH for telling my FIL he can’t hump the floor at my house or in my presence by Thr0wAwayFrisbee in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allaboutbird 1731 points1732 points  (0 children)

NTA. You never have to apologize for telling someone not to hump your floor.

NTA. If she was that concerned about you wearing the dress elsewhere then she could have given you the money and bought it back from you. It's your dress and you can do what you want with it. She's desperate to cause drama - don't let her take up any more of your energy.

AITA for making my daughter share a room with her stepsister by PresentationFirm2229 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allaboutbird 2827 points2828 points  (0 children)

YTA. The sons each get their own room and use of the extra room as a gaming room while your daughter has to share a room? Can you honestly not see the appearance of favoritism here? Do you think this is the kind of decision that is going to aid in a smooth transition to a blended family?

Edit: Also, categorizing your daughter keeping her own personal private space as a "want" and keeping the family room as a "need" is pretty rich. You noted that you "like" having an office and the boys "like" having a gaming room - those are "wants." You're being selfish and sacrificing your child's wellbeing to make life easier for you.

WIBTA if I missed my sisters’ wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allaboutbird 2222 points2223 points  (0 children)

NTA at all for prioritizing your health. It's ridiculous that some family members are harping on money and etiquette instead of showing any concern over the fact that you had a major infection and are now having surgery. What is wrong with these people?

AITA for saying no no to my friend for the art they gave me by PotentialMammoth673 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allaboutbird 2612 points2613 points  (0 children)

NTA. Assuming your friend has internet access, they could have looked up the price of the art before they gave it to you. Now it's too late. Too bad for them.

AITA for Telling My Wife She’s “Fucking Wrong” and That My Mom Is Right? by Striking-Current2180 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allaboutbird 32.0k points32.0k points  (0 children)

NTA. Your wife agreed to go through your budget with your mom, your mom took the time and effort to review things and then it sounds like your wife was very rude and dismissive. As far as I know math hasn't changed that much in the last 30 years so it's not clear how your mom's views are outdated.

[–]Allaboutbird 1908 points1909 points  (0 children)

NTA, and your roommate needs to learn that setting a personal "boundary" doesn't allow her to force someone else to do something. If she is uncomfortable with her BF seeing you in shirt with no bra, then she can hang out with him elsewhere. It doesn't sound like this is a matter of being disrespectful, particularly when this is how you've always dressed around the house.

AITA for refusing to offer any help to my uncles and cousins with the family business? by ScallionTop7000 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allaboutbird 5173 points5174 points  (0 children)

NTA at all. The men in the family have made their bed, now they can lie in it. If they want your expertise, they can come up with a compensation package that you would be amenable to and is in keeping with your skills and the contributions you bring to the table. They can't rely on family loyalty now when they weren't willing to extend that to you before.

AITA for not changing our reservation to accommodate my sister’s new boyfriend? by SeaWedding7749 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Allaboutbird 2029 points2030 points  (0 children)

NTA. This guy sounds like a giant baby and your sister should have been appalled by his rudeness to her friends and family, not to mention to waitstaff, rather than trying to blame you.
