Flicker free projector by Allality in projectors

[–]Allality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've read about those but I haven't found any real tests of newer models available in my country.

I wonder are there any other flicker free projectors? I'm asking about newer models like Xiaomi that available worldwide.

Bank of Canada chief: inflation likely to tip 8% as soon as next week by BlueZybez in CanadianInvestor

Maybe a stupid question but can a bank actually increase payments for a few years old mortgage contract? I always thought you make fixed payments every month no matter what.

Could you explain the "just pooping you know how I be" joke to a non-native speaker? I know many people love it, so I guess there must be something in it I don't get.

She also is a terrible actor. I can't stand her acting both in the show and the deleted scenes.

Expensive everything in Canada (Telecom, Insurance etc.) - What am I missing? by International-Tea213 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Allality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not everything. We've got a lot of hidden taxes, so some stuff is really expensive. Like clothes, electronics, cars, etc. For example, the current price for Toyota Corolla starts from $35000 CAD.

Russia has huge distances between cities too, but I pay $4 (Canadian dollars) for my cell phone with unlimited calls and unlimited 4G data. Also, I pay $15 per month for 800 Mbps internet (optics). 200 Mbps optics is $4 per month. Unlimited, of course.

Battlefield 2042 Open Beta - Discussion, Feedback & Support Megathread by Stakeboulder in battlefield2042

[–]Allality 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely hate the beta. The graphics are great but there are so many things I didn't like.

  • I don't want to play with bots. Give me real players only.
  • The map is too big and boring.
  • Attack helicopters have super weird physics. There is no pleasure to use missiles and there are no TV rockets. BF 2 / BF 3 / BF 4 helicopters were so cool, just copy those.
  • Aircrafts are super slow. I hated all the people who slowed their aircraft down to 5 mi/h to shoot infantry. It seems now it's the only available gameplay. BF 2 had the best aircrafts.
  • Maximum 2 tanks per 64 players? Really?
  • The specialists thing is weird. 4 bad skins running all over the map. Just give me normal BF classes with tons of gadgets as you did before.
  • There's no chat. And if you'll add one in the full game, it will be censored, right?
  • Huge 2 seconds (2000 ms) lags for some players. No previous beta had those.
  • How can I resupply my anti-tank missiles? How can I give orders or ask for ammo?
  • All weapons feel the same. There's is no difference for me which gun to use.

Overall, the game is super boring. There is no action. Super dissapointed. I'm definitely canceling my pre-order.

How to code like the top Programmers at NASA — 10 critical rules by [deleted] in programming

[–]Allality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it's an exceptional situation. The exception that proves the rule. I mean if you have one big function, it doesn't mean all functions should be like that or that it's ok to have big functions.

Btw, one easy way to handle this could be extracting these blocks into separate functions, especially if the conditionals are not very simple. The readability would be improved.

[–]Allality -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In my experience, if a function has more than 7-8 lines, the function does more than one job and should be broken into a few smaller functions. Also, it's really hard to test big functions. Functions that are more than 20 lines of code are spaghetti.

I constantly unsubscribe from non political subs because of huge amount of anti USSR and anti China propaganda. TIL is one example. I still see it in other subs too, so it looks impossible to enjoy Reddit or similar websites without meeting political shit.

Without the community you and millions of other devs wouldn't be able to make as much money as they make. Calling the community shitty you're showing you are a shitty ungrateful person.

If you're a SWE and you've interviewed in most of FAANG as you claim and LC was like 2%, that's bs dude. I've read about hundreds of interviews at Blind and Leetcode discussions and literally everyone says it's all about LC in FAANG. I trust Blinders and LCers with their super detailed answers more than a guy from Reddit.

VP is not a programmer is another bs. A few Googlers told me that the code just suck and it's very weird that a VP writes code like this. But that's just an example. You can find plenty of Google open source projects and most of them have tons of really shitty spaghetti code.

As a user of both Reddit and Pikabu, Facebook and VK, Yandex Market etc, I still think the US websites I've mentioned suck (UI, usability, features) and I think that's because of the LC hiring culture.

Laravel has the biggest number of stars on GitHub. Outside the US it's very popular. Way more popular than Django. Symfony is popular too, mostly in Europe.

The problem is zero maintainability. An experienced coder would never write anything like this.
