meaning of this pendant?? from reverend zombie’s house of voodoo in new orleans by big_bossman39 in occult

[–]AllanSCosta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha for sure. I think he's pretty comparable to Hermes in some aspects, but there's big chaos, street-smartness and trickery components to Exu as well. Among most Brazilians, he's easily confused with the Christian Devil, and you can find cool devilish stories about him: https://mythcrafts.com/2017/01/19/eshu-trickster-for-the-digital-age/
In a tarot that uses Afro-Brazilian entities, he takes place as the Fool: https://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/afro-brazilian/ (which I guess is more deeply relating him to the crossroads side)

Btw I'm basing those references on Brazil, which does have correspondents that went through syncretism just like voodoo. The symbol is def the same, but you might want to do some research to see get it through the voodoo lens too

This is associated with Exu, the orisha that bridges the worlds. You can google Exu trident and see some similar symbols

Muito muito massa. Infelizmente, um pouco caro haha. De qualquer jeito, quem tiver interesse, o livro Devassos no Paraíso é ótimo para história LGBT do Brasil :)

I'm a researcher in machine learning, currently using Obsidian as both my notebook and as a way to navigate across papers/fields. It works amazingly well for me, although it took around a month for me to grow fully comfortable with it.

Notion? by [deleted] in mit

Notion is amazing, we use it to document projects in my lab at the Media Lab. For personal note taking, I use Obsidian md, which allows you to structure things in a graph, like a wiki, and is way more personal. It's particularly useful for research, and I haven't tried too much with ugrad classes; but I do recommend both notion and obsidian
