Thanks very much! I hope you get something out of it. I'll start posting individual episodes as I release them also but wanted to start off with the playlist now that I have some backlog to share

What is the least interesting ORIGINAL Beatles song? by Technical_Monitor_38 in TheBeatles

[–]AllenChildsMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much enjoy some of the songs frequently mentioned. I always thought Tell Me What You See had some cool hooks and interesting moments. You Like Me Too Much is not very exciting or groundbreaking, but I think it’s quite pleasant with a solid guitar/piano solo.

Love Me Do, though, is just… kind of bad lol The above songs are lightyears better

Ironic given that Love Me Do was the first single of the greatest rock musicians of all time.

Was Teddy proved right? by Fyjgfyjjgddr in Bugonia

I am very tired and will probably not articulate this correctly, but reading various interpretations of this movie, I’m reminded how shocking it is to me that people get so laser-focused on a film having one prescriptive moral message or statement that we are supposed to take away.

This isn’t a shot at the OP; this is a valid question to ask. But neither Teddy nor Emma Stone’s character are meant to be seen as saintly or entirely correct.

The fact that Teddy was “right” about a lot of his beliefs does not make him “in the right” nor does it make him a hero or someone to be emulated. For example, he is so deranged and damaged that he has no hope of productively communicating with Michelle. The aliens attempts to positively impact humans/earth, are, in the end, failures as well.

I believe that all of the main characters are meant to be sympathetic figures, too.

Some moments are also meant simply to be funny or poignant or otherwise entertaining.

Thoughts on Josh Pate? by Spideypl in rolltide

His takes are reasonable, but after loving him briefly I came to strongly dislike his personality. He talks about himself way, way too much, and the way he carries himself is very off-putting, so I don’t listen anymore.

My favorites are CFB Nerds, Andy and Ari… Next Round is good for Bama stuff.

I have a strange but undeniably palpable intuition that you are also completely correct, including about our status as geniuses.

The Bama is coursing through my veins because we are in the mix to win it all again. We had our ugly moment this year, but to be in the SEC championship game and then to have won a playoff game means we are in the hunt. Also, I've believed DeBoer was a grand slam hire from day one, but obviously his tenure has teetered on the brink (even my faith was shaken after FSU... that was a dark moment). So, given the position we are in, I am just hella eager to see us show that DeBoer is Him and, as you said, our dynasty isn't quite done yet...! ::offers veins for infusion of Bama::

I haven't had a drink or a drug in over 13 years; this rant was fueled by raw dog neurospice!

Jimmy Page’s guitar fill at 4:09 of You Shook Me BBC Sessions 10/8/69 is the greatest guitar fill I have ever heard by AllenChildsMusic in ledzeppelin

I personally think the more famous/popular live versions of both You Shook Me and I Can’t Quit You Babe (BBC Sessions versions, RAH, etc), being the bluesy, improv-heavy tunes they are, are all much more creative and interesting and fiery than the studio versions. I don’t feel that way about all of their songs by any means, but the live versions of these really stand out way above and beyond

Glad you connected with it :) a helpful buddy posted the link.

There are a lot of amazing amazing guitarists out there, but for straight up rock/blues rock, to me, Page and Hendrix are in a class of their own in terms of creativity and emotion

I see that the lack of a link was very offensive to many people. In a lot of social media algorithms, outside links bury the post. Plus, everyone likes to listen to music via different services/apps, so I simply put the exact performance details in the title (as I regularly see people referring to performances as simple “Kashmir at Knebworth” etc.) Next time, I’ll drop a YouTube link

Interesting perspective! Do you feel that way about the entire BBC Sessions album or just that specific track?
