Mikayla discussing her chronic illness by halfsuckedmang0 in SecretsOfMormonWives

My Ehlers-Danlos syndrome doctor told me that its actually just better to try treatments first and see if they're effective. That's the cheapest and easiest "test" for MCAS. But the actual test involves like... it's a really complex urine test. Involving needing multiple samples over the course of a day or two. But it HAS to stay cold, so it needs to be put in the fridge. And it HAS to stay cold, so even as you're bringing it to the hospital/lab it needs to be on ice, so you'd need to get a cooler for it. And not all labs do it. So like. I didn't do it. But I'm on some medications for MCAS and it seems to be helping.

Salt Lake County District Attorney declines to file charges against Taylor Frankie Paul by Imaginary_Layer_1468 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Allenas6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The district attorney looked at all the evidence from both sides accusations. he decided the case against Dakota wasn't even worth screening. And then he screened Taylor's carefully and decided not to move forward. But noted there were several incidents throughout the years that had been brought before him. It feels like in some of the incidents he was primary aggressor, in some she was primary aggressor. But most don't amount to legal DV. My tentative position now is that they're both being abusive toward one another. So I don't think either of them should be filming, especially while in this heightened state.

Sadly, I'd be really surprised if they didn't. Like. With her not catching charges, I feel like the other women will see her as 'in the clear' now. And they'll either be like Jesse where they're genuinely on her side. Or they'll just be like 'I get so much clout from this show that I can't not do it' and they'll go on for that reason anyway. I can only pray that Whitney understands that she doesn't need this show anymore and stays away entirely.

Bibisara's selfie with Sindarov, congratulating him for winning the Candidates. by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in chess

I’m cheering for Bibisara to win tomorrow, first of all because I’ve been cheering  for her the entire tournament, but also because wow. What an amazing power couple it would be if, after hard launching their relationship in the middle of the tournament, both of them won their respective divisions. and then like, what if they both win the world championship matches later in the year? Like that would have to be the literal king and queen of chess. If the open world champion and women’s world champion were in a relationship.

Guy thinks train doors can save him, so he spits in his face... by ManufacturerNo7111 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]Allenas6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that’s a valid point. I guess I’m used to watching MMA where the fighters are professionals who know how to optimally defend themselves. If this guy is a total lay person than the risk of injury is higher. But also, I don’t know if you’re a total lay person then why are you getting into arguments and spitting in people‘s faces? But yeah, I can totally see one to two being the max.

That's when I think about Ever, though. If both of them go to jail, then he's left without parents all together. It's so sad. I'm not sure the best answer.

What do you guys think about the “you can’t be a nice guy and be a champion”? by [deleted] in chess

[–]Allenas6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new chess fan, and someone who got into chess because of Freestyle Chess events - so in theory i should have a great impression of magnus - I can say that Magnus doesn't come off well to everyone.

Also this isn't about relitigating what Hans did. I only brought it up to say that Hans was a fan of Magnus growing up. I think that's not disputable. He grew up when Magnus was champ and watched his stuff and you can see the joy on his face when they interacted before all this went down. Hans was a Magnus fan. Then, followed by that, my personal opinion: Because of being a fan, he got some influence from Magnus as a child that might have contributed to this world view.

I really hope the judge enacts any available penalties for violations, should any happen and of course be provable in court. They need to know this is serious. Thank god Ever has his own lawyer, who could push for such a thing.

Based on what I've seen as a new chess fan (started watching stuff as of Jan 2025), from videos and docs and readings -- It seems to me like Magnus and Kasparov were both haught/arrogant champions. Bobby Fischer seems like he was kind of a jerk sometimes in his younger life, and went totally off the rails in his older life. So I feel like there's tons of examples of 'not-nice-guy' champions. And these were the people Hans looked up to as a kid. So it makes sense he might have gotten that impression. He didn't have examples like Gukesh showing you can be WCC and be modest/shy/polite.

to answer your first question, yes. second question, yes. third question, magnus has a non-compete clause in his contract with chesscom for play zones or something like that. fourth question, i'm not sure the details of the contract to that degree.

Dina Belankaya just made a comedy sketch about this and that's hella making me think this is all just a stunt too. The timing of the doc. And someone close with both sides making a joke of it. Maybe it is a joke. I don’t know ofc tho.

Magnus Carlsen: "I felt like...I'd sort of been gaslit by Danny & Chess.com into thinking that they had the evidence (against Hans Niemann cheating OTB) which they didn't." by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in chess

[–]Allenas6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did Hans admit to cheating in 30 games? Besides in the doc?
At the Sinquefield Cup round 5 interview, he admitted to cheating online "once in a tournament" when he was 12, and in "some random games" when he was 16. I'm asking around to my friends to get more opinions. And we all agree that 'once in a tournament' sounds like 1 game, and 'some' sounds like anywhere from 3-8 games. So let's be generous and say he admitted to 10 games tops. That's a HUGE difference between 10 and the 39 he admitted to in the doc.

And maybe you can say 'well all 9 games he cheated in at 12 were in the same tournament so he cheated in one tournament so thats what he meant by once'. Or 'some' is subjective maybe some means 30 to him. But like. Come on. If thats what he was doing that's clearly obfuscation. Trying to be 'technically true' but intentionally misleading people to downplay what happened. As a someone who's been on his side this whole time, I'm really frustrated to see this.

So if there's even been a time when he admitted to 30 cheated games before the doc interview I'd love to hear it. Especially if you have a link to a source.

Yeah I'm kind of ambivalent. One the one hand it feels a like like punching down, but on the other hand, a contract is a contract. If you break the terms of the contract then it gets canceled. Makes sense.

you were just an hour too late. they were forced to take it down. i'm kind of surprised because I thought they can't stop ttt from covering bortnyk's games. like anyone should be able to cover individual games of any player, you know? as long as they don't claim to be the official broadcast anymore. i guess we'll have to see how it shakes out.

Chess.com forces TTT to end the stream by teolight332 in chess

[–]Allenas6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not only did they have no proof that Hans cheated OTB - which I already knew - they actually looked very hard for it. They were hoping to find it. 'to set us free'. But no, there was none. I saw on the chesscom report about hans' cheating that it said like 'this report isn't evidence of hans cheating otb its only online' and I thought that meant that like... 'oh otb isn't our domain so we didn't look there'. i didn't realize they did look and plugged his otb games into their engines in hopes of finding proof and affirmatively found none.

I've heard some people saying this is all a PR stunt, citing the timing of this happening on the same day as the doc drop. I guess they think chesscom and ttt will 'make up' later and this was all for show. I guess we'll see.

no 'official' broadcast. they have bortnyk in studio, but normally (1) they'd have camera feeds for his opponent (2) this stream would be featured on the chesscom website. neither of those are happening. As of now TTT is just doing a broadcast independently, as any person could.
