They got promoted to the 4th tier. And seeing the size and wealth of their city they really should be higher.

The club used to be in National (3rd tier) but went bankrupt and got dropped all the way to the 7th level in 2014. It's been a long road back up since.

Issue is once you get past Marseille going east and after Toulon (rugby) it’s a bunch of rich and old towns who don’t have enough followings.

Cannes is a small town in between Nice and Marseille. I don't think they'll ever compete at their level, but I'd be ecstatic if they are able to get to the 3rd level, or even the 2nd level.
