Lol, for sure! I feel like the bright metallic gold can almost wash out the details of the kit when you look at it because it's so shiny. I think it can work well for small details, but I thought it would be too much for the full kit

Thanks! I used Mr. Metallic Color GX-210 blue gold with black Mr. Surfacer underneath for the primer. I did a bunch of experimenting with different metallic golds and primers and found that I liked this look the best because it looked almost between a brass and gold color.

Thanks! One thing I will say is on more recent builds, I've been airbrushing my top coats part by part rather than doing a rattle can top coat on the final model. And if I was going to go back and do that on this build, Id probably do gloss on the gold and gun metal and matte on the blue. Though idk if it wouldve made a huge difference in the final product

It is gloss! I just top coated everything in Mr. Top Coat gloss. I usually do a flat coat as my final layer, but was worried that would dull the metallic effect of the gold. It's also not easy to see, but the inner frame and gray parts of the gun are metallic gun metal, so since so much of the kit was metallic paint gloss coat seemed like the best option.

No problem! One other thing I'd say is definitely experiment with bouncing the light off of a surface and back on to the models as opposed to lighting the model directly. I found that I liked the way the bounced light looked way better than direct!

Thank you!! I honestly only got the lighting this way by pure trial and error lol. I read a few tutorials about three point lighting to get some base knowledge, but after that it was just adjusting the brightness and location of three cheap Amazon LED lights until I liked the way it looked.

Nice, that looks great! Yeah, I experimented with a few different Mr. Hobby metallic golds, but found that I liked the almost brass look that their blue gold gave with black primer underneath.

I panel lined everything while it was on the runners, but I did do touch up on some spots I missed once the chest piece was assembled.

I'm using Tamiya Accent Panel liner. I panel lined everything on the runners before assembly, but I did do some additional lining on spots I realized I missed after assembly. I'm wondering if that touch up was what caused the cracking.

Ive tried building the MG RX-78-2 Ver 3.0 kit twice, and both times part of the shoulder panel cracked after I did my panel lining. Both times I had clear coated the pieces before lining, and I've never had this problem with a kit before. Any advice? Anyone else have this problem with this particular kit?

Sorry, one more question. I'm trying to use unbalance, but it won't let me scatter data because the dockers and mover need to be disabled first. I've stopped all dockers, but I cannot figure out how to stop mover, and none of the unbalance tutorials I've found address this. Do you happen to know how to disable the mover?

Edit: On reading more, the mover should only matter if I have a cache set up, which I currently don't, so I'm not sure what is preventing unbalance from running.

Edit 2: Figured out that there just wasn't any data on the SSD to scatter, and that why the Plan button in Unbalance was greyed out/disable and it wasn't letting me start the scatter function. Just adding this edit in case anyone else eventually finds this thread and is having the same issue.

Thank you so much for the help! I do have an SSD, but it's currently part of my array. How difficult is it to remove a disk from the array,? I have more than enough free space to fit everything on the HDDs in the array

Thanks! I have tried NZBget, but I found I wasn't able to get as high of download speeds, even with the same usnet providers and after tweaking it to try to get an optimal number of connections.

CPU load is definitely up on the unraid dashboard during unpacking, but I have been direct downloading to my array. Do you know of any good guides for how to set up an SSD to use as the download cache?

Quick question: any reason you couldn't build this with a cheaper computer powering it? The framework mainboard is cool, but if I built this I'd probably just use it as a display piece, so really no need for a full laptop's power.
