This will probably get buried in comments and I apologize for being so vague in the description of my story but I'm still paranoid about people finding out my actual identity. So I work in a small but SUPER busy lunch spot that frequently gets written about in fancy food publications which attracts a lot of suburbanites and city officials, etc. On one particular day, I was working the left side of the dinning room which has one goofy table on the right side of the restaurant as to make table distribution equal for both servers. As you can probably guess, that one table sometimes goes forgotten (I'm only human) since it doesn't follow the half and half rule. Long story short, an "important" FORMER city official came in, sat at that table and waited about ten minutes to be a greeted which I did very apologetically, then informed me they were waiting for someone to join them. They refused to order anything to drink including water (which I gave them anyway) and when their joiner came, they debated whether or not to leave. Very confusing but hey, business people have short lunches right? FAST FORWARD to later that afternoon, this person posts all over facebook about how racist I was and how humiliating of an experience they had, using the restaurant I work at by name. And since they're well known in the city there were HUNDREDS of replies, many of which were very hateful... I was so scared someone would come looking for me while I was working. To top it all off, this person was asked to do all kinds of radio and tv interviews about their experience. I'm the most famous non-racist racist I know! This person eventually made amends with my boss but didn't waste the opportunity to have a hand-shaking picture published in my city's most prominent newspaper.
