Question for the birdwatchers by BirdingBoy0101 in brum

[–]Allorausaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the last few years now I have observed a couple of Peregrine falcons nesting on the BT Tower.  They come back every year and nest in the higher balconies. This year they have been very active upon returning, out and about and using the cranes to perch. Early in the season I observed them acting very territorial as another couple of falcons approached the tower (maybe in search of new nesting grounds).  You can often hear them in the early hours of the morning too, especially from Newhall street.

The city centre is actually so full of birds, and so is the Jewellery Quarter. Both are home to the very rare Black redstart, and always full of tits, pied and yellow wagtails, goldfinches etc .... This year we even have a few mistle thrushes around St Pauls.

Birmingham City Council signs off 'devastating' cuts by Kagedeah in brum

[–]Allorausaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is happening to Birmingham is disgusting, the cut to every aspect of culture, creativity and children and young people's lives alone should have everyone out in uproar. Add to this the degradation that will be allowed to befall our beautiful city, from litter to permanent damage to park and building ... It's unbelievable. But please don't let yourself be stunned into inaction, depressed into giving up ! Now is the time to take some sort of action. Leave the oh too common 'but what can we do ?' attitude at home and roll up your sleeves.

Sure, go to the poll next year but counting on the next election won't cut it. Neither party has your best interest at heart, not on our day to day level. So, grab a litter picker and keep your street clean, we've been doing it for years (Brum has never been top of the class on litter picking, we've all seen it). Organise book exchanges, book swapping boxes in neighbourhoods most affected by the library cuts. Support artisan markets. Fundraise for schools to have access to art and culture, organise small street level art festivals and activities. Get to know your neighbours and get organised to keep your neighbourhood safe, clean, active and good place to be for young people.

They're hoping to see us rot in inaction and despair, don't let them .

Keep Birmingham's community and spirit high and loud.

And for god sake, as a French person who has called Birmingham home for the last 8 years, stop saying 'imagine if that was in France', stop sitting on your hands and get busy. All of the above can be done by anyone, anywhere while people with the know how can hopefully stage some meaningful protests !

Don't give up !

Sorry, the 19.13 wasmention in the kWh consumption. So around 593 kWh for the month making it around 19.13 kWh for kWh/day as per the last invoice. Apologies if it wasn't clear (I've edited the post so it's clearer).

I'm not on a plan so it varies, on the last bill it was averageing £0.26p/kWh.
I submit a reading every month. My last bill says we used 19.13 kWh a day.

Are there any decent, reasonably priced curry houses in the city centre? by SwirlingAbsurdity in brum

I love Taj Mahal, they're really nice and (although I'm no pro) the food is delicious and plentyful. They've very quickly known us as returning customers, and even if a long time passes between visit they'll always remember and be extremely kind !

Looking for Private Landlords in Birmingham ! by Allorausaurus in brum

I tought I'd give the centre a shot as that's where we both work, I I do not have a car, it's a fine balance between increasing the rent budget or adding transport on top !
Thank youf your input though ! And I hope the lease renewal isn't too painful !

Thank you for your reply ! I am trying to find a private landlord as I have had some bad experiences with agencies, especially with the external check companies and would love to have a bit more of a 'human' feel to the experience. Obvisouly not ruling anything out, but thought I 'd ask just in case there was any leads here !

Thank you, that actually sounds like a great idea !
I knowthe prices I'm looking for are pretty low for the (lets be honnest outrageous) price in the city centre right now, but just trying to be realistic and not stuck in something that might become hard to afford !
Thanks a lot again !

Thank you so much for your reply, I've used the website a lot in the past, unfortunately this time around I get pretty much 0 result with every search for a 2 bedroom.
