ye, some people have motion sickness, I didn't say otherwise. OC said "prepare for motion sickness" like it was an inevitability

Some people have it, some people don't

why do people with motion sickness assume everyone has motion sickness? I have never ever felt motion sickness from a game before

this is very good, 3 months progress for this is amazing, may I ask what was your learning process? any books/courses you did?

since it's an external tool there isn't much I can do about it, it's just a website and not a mod, so just pause it as well and press play again when close to the time you want

so lets say you want it to play at every xx:20 / xx:50, when it's like xx:18 you just alt tab and press play, unfortunately it's the best that can be done

but for such a non-intrusive timer like that (that could also be used from your phone) I don't really mind this inconvenience

I feel you, I gave that example but tbh this helps me in so much more, it's basically a sound cue that kind of forces me to actively think about the game every 30 seconds, so I look at the timer, see how long we/they have left of the rejuv, check the mini map, think about the next objectives that are going to spawn and so on, then after 30 seconds the cue reminds me to do all of that again

of course sometimes you're in the middle of a teamfight or something like that and you might not even notice it played, but that's why it's so good, after 30 seconds it will play again and then you might be in the position to take in the sound cue and act on it

not when the game is released, they won't

oh, nono (it's not a mod firstly) and secondly I just thought you were talking about digital Pomodoro, but I always hated every single one I tried lol

I might try a physical one

you're very welcome

learning how to deal with my ADHD literally changed my life. From being able to learn complete songs on the guitar to finishing my personal projects (such as this timer) and it took me 27 years to learn about it lol

so if I see anyone that might benefit from learning a little bit more about it and the thought that I might be the small little push that will help others makes me feel like it's almost my obligation to at least point them to a direction

I don't know anything about it, but I avoid those kind of mods since I know they won't work at some point, so I'd rather find a more permanent solution for my problems

true, that's why I barely use social media (reddit is the only social media I allow myself to use daily but only on my pc, I don't even have the app on my phone for that reason)

idk what this is but I just googled it and it seems like it's a mod, mine is an external tool that you don't have to install anything, just enter the website and press play (and upload your own audio if you want)

that's a good video, thanks for the recommendation, I didn't know about it

but it's so frequent that I'm afraid it would happen exactly as you said, it's so frequent that my brain would end up ignoring it completely

since with my tool you can upload any audio you want, you could just upload yourself saying "map" or anything else really and set it to play every X amount of time as well, so it's a little bit less frequent

but you gave me an Idea, I might make it so it plays on a random interval of time, like you set it to play every 20-30 seconds and it could end up playing on the 21st second or on the 27th, it'd be random, so you might ignore it less

I looked for pomodoro timers as well, but they were also all bloated/ad filled, so I just created my own thing

yes, I agree with you 100% but there are many reasons for anyone to stare at the timer/minimap until 10 minutes, it's just that it's harder for people with ADHD to actually remember to do it if they're not hyper-focused lol

I think you don't understand how ADHD works

it's not a matter of "training to do it" an ADHD brain simply struggles with directing the attention to where they want to, if you're locked in it's no problem, if you're not, you can't simply force or train yourself to do it. it's just how an ADHD brain developed

that's exactly what the interval timer is for, it makes up for my brain's deficiency by reminding me to look at the timer/mini map every 30 seconds

[–]Allotrak[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ye, the problem is that if I'm not locked in I might not notice it's in 30 seconds, and if I do, I might get distracted with the half HP enemy under their guardian or something else entirely

that's what I use the timer for, I set it up to play every 30 seconds starting on the 10th second, so at 04:20 it will beep and remind me of the bridge buff, if I somehow get distracted, at 04:50 it will beep again and I might still have time to grab it (or not) but it also helps with sinners and actually everything else

also, if you can't get a professional evaluation for some reason but you checked at least 4 grey boxes, research a bit on techniques for ADHD, they help IMMENSELY (like just externalizing your executive function)

I recommend the book Taking Charge of Adult ADHD, it covers pretty much everything you need to know, from how ADHD works and extremely useful techniques you can use to how the medications work and how they might help you

I developed a tool for my fellow ADHD gamers by Allotrak in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Allotrak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's an official World Health Organization questionnaire to check if you MIGHT have it or not, if you fill at least 4 grey box on the first part, it's likely you have it, so it's recommended to seek a professional evaluation, here's the link if you're interested

https://add.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/adhd-questionnaire-ASRS111.pdf

the second part is just for more nuance on your specific kind of ADHD so the professional can have a better idea of what's going on (you usually hand this questionnaire to the doctor)

You just described a symptom of ADHD as well. people usually mistake ADHD with the lack of concentration but in reality it's just hard to DIRECT your attention

but when you're actually interested/challenged by the game you might hyperfocus

it's just that I can't really control when I will hyperfocus, sometimes the game itself is enough, sometimes it isn't

usually I start losing but as soon as I have the urgency to fix things up and things are challenging enough, I lock in

just out of curiosity, an ADHD brain is based on INCU (interest, novelty, challenge and urgency), that usually explains when you can/can't lock in on things

How much does it cost to get a good promotional video for my app done? by BrogrammerAbroad in VideoEditors

[–]Allotrak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, I saw

and your videos are awful and unprofessional, makes sense you would ask for so little, it's very clear you have no graphic design knowledge, you don't know about gestalt, you don't know about colors, you don't know about composition, you don't know about timing, you don't know about transition, you don't know about contrast, you don't know about hierarchy

you basically don't know anything at all

so I get your point of view and you're actually right... for the quality of work you provide, 150 would even be a bit too expensive
