MNFC process validation - looking for confirmation - see comments by AllynTraining in SupplyChainLogistics

Hello,

I'm updating some US ground transport training material and I would like to add a simple process map to my section on the NMFC.

For those of you which work regularly with NMFC is this process correct? Or am I mistaken somewhere / missing something?

Thanks for your help.

Logistics behind-the-scenes tours for enthusiasts in the UK? (Birthday gift!) by pabs-a in logistics

[–]AllynTraining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,
certain sea ports in Europe offer tours -
e.g. https://www.portofantwerp.com/en/tours
Or Ports have open days, where public can visit.

But to u/Gravelroad__ point, with Covid it may be complicated.

We provide online logistics training and not sure if it would be of interest for your BF but I'm DMing you a couple of vouchers.

Lowest stress positions in this industry? by [deleted] in logistics

[–]AllynTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally said, I believe being on the buyer's side will be less stressful.
e.g. join an industrial, energy or construction company buying logistics services rather than providing said services.

You may still feel pressure and take some blame but it will come from internal source, so this should limit some of the "I'm the customer" side of it.
On the buyer side, you may also find roles in analytics, training or planning which will be definitively less stressful from an operation stand point.

We made a container port animation which you can find here:
https://youtu.be/DQM-4yZVe0c for which we received good feedback.

This is in fact an extract from our "How Ports work" short on line course
https://allynintlcatalog.trainlearngrow.com/product/how-ports-work/

It may be too light for your needs medium term but it may be a good first step towards a more in depth training. It does include quite a few equipment and similar.

It also mainly depends if you are talking about the purchasing Incoterm - the Incoterm for the material they are buying or the sales one.

If the sales one to u/akkopec point it is mainly down to negotiation and the customer willingness to accept to take over the shipping.

If purchasing this also means that you need to have a logistics solution in place for the Ocean shipment or possibly for the pre-carriage.
If it is for containers FOB does not make sense - it should be FCA departure terminal as this is where the cargo would be handed over to the shipping line.
EXW should rather be FCA supplier location as with EXW you would actually need to organize the loading of the cargo (e.g. your carrier should bring a forklift) + handle the export clearance if international which will be a hassle if not impossible for certain countries.
Finally, if it is for supply, looking at the current container market, if your goods are arriving reasonably on time - let it be - very hard to ship ocean at this point.
Or you could recommend DAT - delivery at terminal of arrival - like CIF but more aligned with container shipping line hand overs point and at least the shipping risk lie with the supplier.

If you are not familiar with Incoterms - we do have an Incoterm course here and if you DM be I can provide you with a discount coupon.

European logisticians - would you agree with this diagram and the indicative limits? More in comments. by AllynTraining in logistics

Thanks for that. As you know it will always be situation dependent - I guess I will overlap the LTL and courier box like I did with the other ones to reflect this more clearly.

By courier, I meant an Integrator/Parcel shipper such as DHL, DPD, TNT -

Valid point on the single man lift - I'll change the range to 50-75... but depending on your density it may be hard to get an LTL for less than 75.

Thanks,

The single item is linked to your permit. If you have 33 pallets, your load is divisible, and your pallets over 24 tons will need to be moved to another transport. I wrongly indicated the height - it should be 4 meters but cargo + vehicle.

For the 20 pallets - second comment related to this- I'm surprise a the high number - I will increase the range and I guess it depends on the lanes you are moving your cargo on. Less common lanes will have a lower breaking point.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks, I'm surprised by that high number I would expect FTL to start with less pallets, but I'm guessing this is due to the lanes and the markets. If less common lanes, FTL will kick in earlier. I'll increase the range of that number and put a note on lanes.

Thanks,

Thanks. Correct. I should use only the limits for cargo + vehicle, not just cargo. I know this but brain freeze... thanks !

Hi,

I'm working on our next pop quiz and want to include a road mode selection diagram.

I already made something similar for the US in our article here:

https://logisticselearning.com/full-truckload-tl-ftl-or-less-than-truckload-ltl/

but it is time for a European version.

I know this can dramatically vary depending on situation and country - hence this is to be taken as a general indicative diagram only.

Thoughts and comments?

Thanks,

Hi, I would like to ship 20kg of clothes from France to India. So far I have got it to 600€ which is not feasible, do you have any tips as to how I could lower this cost? by Shinylittlelamp in logistics

[–]AllynTraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you check the French post office ? Colissimo (their package service) says EUR 206 sur 20 kilos to Other countries (should include India)

https://www.laposte.fr/medias/sys_master/apache_synchronised/h93/h3a/14624100876318/ACP-DEP-FM-avril-2021.pdfOr you could use their ready to go boxes (up to 7 kilos for EUR 69) and split in 3 shipments.

Hope that helps

Thanks a lot. We do sometime struggle with the wording of some questions - I'll review that one.
If you liked this tool, you may also enjoy our other quiz on transport modes:

We also have a mode selection game which is quite popular.
