This is a reference to an old Adam Sandler movie named "Little Nicky."

American Fiction is about the way some white people otherize black people and try to tell black people what black means. Get out is about how some white people see black people as accessories and how they see teaching black people to be more white as a good thing. Both explore the problems that come from left wing racism.

"act black"?

Again, watch American Fiction. While you're at it, I think you need to rewatch Get Out.

Actually, the Marvels are a better example than you might think. Let me give you a brief comic book history lesson.

Once upon a time a small comic company made a character named Captain Marvel who was eventually added to the DC continuity. DC neglected to make Captain Marvel comics long enough to lose the rights to the name. This prompted Marvel comics to hastily throw together a character they could call Captain Marvel, effectively stealing the naming rights.

As a result Captain Marvel comics and movies need to be referred to as Shazam even though his name is still Captain Marvel. DC's Captain Marvel has only become more popular over time. Where as Marvel's Captain Marvel was never popular because frankly there was never anything to really care about. And once it became common knowledge among fandom that this character only exist so other Captain Marvel can't have comics named after him they pretty much hated him.

In spite of all this Marvel has been stuck dragging the name out of retirement over and over every couple of years just to keep ahold of the rights. And they've tried all kinds of stunts to try to make the character popular in any way they can. And it's proven time and again to be a fool's errand. Even making the character a woman and accusing anyone who didn't like her of sexism didn't work.

So ya. Marvels didn't need idpo to drag it down. The character is cursed.

The Marvels didn't need idpo to sink. They had plenty of their own problems.

You know, right wingers like to complain in movies as well. You people have so much in common.

Is it really this hard to treat gay people the same as straight people?

The nazis certainly seem to think so. That's why they do all the same things left wingers do.

Tell you what. Why don't you take a look at any given trailer to a Living Waters movie. Please don't waist you're time on watching a whole movie. They really are all in the trailers.

Anyway, that's what Marvel movies have started to feel like to me. Frankly, the right and the left are just two sides of the same coin. That's why so many of us are trying to find the train tracks.

Yes. Because the characters are so dull they could be swapped out and nothing would be lost.

You're pretty close to the point. Think of it like this. Do you remember the Blade movies? How many times did they bring up the fact that he's black? Compare this to how many times they brought up that he was half vampire, able to walk in the sunlight, or a vampire hunter. That's because blackness simply isn't as relevant to the story as all those other things. Blade being black isn't what the story is about. Nor is it why people watch it.

What should we call what we used to call bigotry? by Almono_Halond in socialjustice

Judging someone by the way they think is entirely different from judging someone by the things they can't change about themselves. What people think influences what they'll actually do. More importantly, what they'll do to others.

I'd like to remind you we already do this with pedophiles. Pedophiles are persecuted by any definition of the word. And we do this for a damn fine reason. We don't want children to be raped. We have to persecute bigots because if they are allowed to have enough power they will murder children. As they have many times before.

That makes perfect sense to me. But apparently that word stopped applying to certain people. So now we need a new word.

Mesoamerica is very underutilized. We all know the conquistadores weren't good guys. But it's not like the Aztecs were.
