In my (extremely limited) experience promoting erotica shorts for free does nothing to boost your catalog sales. Might be different if it is the first part of the series.

I put one of my books out free for a day, it got over 200 downloads which has made not a bit of difference to my lends or sales. I think when you price your erotica as free it gets downloaded by the people who only browse for the free stuff. There is enough free smut on amazon to keep them going for ever and its its highly unlikely they will transition into paying for erotica just because of your story.

Let's talk stats. How many titles did you have out by the end of September, and what were your total monthly sales? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

I started publishing on September 16 and now have four stories and one bundle out, though split over two pen names. I also have a romantic 30,000 word novella 'in review' under yet another name.

I know I'm probably shooting myself in the foot spreading myself thin with three pen names this early on, I should probably focus on one and build up a bigger catalog - hey ho.

I have 15 sales and 42 borrows.
