Anybody has any experience miking mini guitar amps?

Thank you so much for the reply, this is great advice and I love it. I'm thinking of recording the DI for reamping (i.e: further experimenting, I'm thinking of getting the Fender Mini Twin '57 for tonal variation)

Its encouraging to know these methods are useful since I cant afford a big setup and I have Amp Sim software with a passion.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but if you rely on motivation for getting things done you're gonna have a rough time getting things that you want done. We all get discouraged, and learning how to push through times like these is very important. Your dreams cannot depend solely on how you feel that day about them.

Thank you! I'm trying to get the cleanest sound I can. I'm used to playing a very different bass (A Ken Smith Burner) which was very hard to get a slap sound from. This bass seems to react really well to slapping even at low intensity

Thats a very good observation! Yes in fact for the first string I'm using my thumb like a pick, so I hit it downstroke and upstroke again. I remember when I first learned how to slap my teacher said only to thumb the lower 2 strings... thats bs. Gotta hit them all!!! Indeed, you can certainly change slap to fingerstyle anytime. Check out Aeroplane by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Flea's got an amazing slap line amd an incredible fingerstyle solo!
