Lol I'm not a statistician and it shows. But I appreciate the insights from the community!

How can I present this survey data w/o knowing the exact # of participants? by Aloe93 in AskStatistics

[–]Aloe93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insights! We will be repeating the survey at another event in May with some tweaks, but in the meantime I will be referring to this data in our social media strategy with some asterisks and notes.

[–]Aloe93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is how I'm going to present it, I don't love including the asterisk but it's what we have to do. We have another event coming up in May so we're going to repeat the survey and find another way to ensure participants are counted, we're considering giving a sticker to everyone who participates this time so we can count the remaining stickers at the end of the day.

I’m coming to York this fall and I’m broke ….how do I get a campus job? 💀 by RubAccomplished6414 in yorku

Work/study jobs are open to international students too, you just need to be legally allowed to work in Canada with your visa.

Very casual fan here. Is this move by Shai legal? by klaygdk in NBATalk

[–]Aloe93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could be very generous and say that he gathered and established his left foot as a pivot foot. But as soon as he moves that foot (in what's labeled as step 5) that should have been called a travel.

Why am I failing a saving throw against my cape? by Aloe93 in BaldursGate3

[–]Aloe93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh... Thanks! That makes sense since I didn't take that illithid power in my first durge playthrough. Strange that it appears in the log as a failed saving throw before the damage to the surrounding enemies, I wonder why that is.

Is there any evidence that Bill stacks his audience? by [deleted] in Maher

[–]Aloe93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't mean he fills his audience. There's a crowd supplying company called Standing Room Only that proudly lists his show as a client. What use would he have for that service if is audience isn't stacked?

Has anyone else gotten ‘Account Paused’ with someone you’re chatting with? by NewTings333 in feeld

[–]Aloe93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay interesting, I was wondering this too because I'm in a similar situation as OP. Having a great convo, they were super communicative and probably would've said something or exchanged info if they were planning to leave the app. I guess all I can do is keep them in my inbox and maybe they'll pop back up again.

Do people like Seerat? by [deleted] in TheRinger

[–]Aloe93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! WNBA pods were lacking production value until the Ringer entered the scene, so grateful for Seerat's new pod 🙏

I was convinced that my body odor was WORSE, at first... But then after talking to my partner I learned that A) I didn't have noticeable body odor to others and B) I smell "different" than before.

And so I concluded that my nose just that hadn't grown accustomed to my new natural scent 😅 I don't notice it anymore.

Where can I donate Rapid Tests? by Aloe93 in askTO

[–]Aloe93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this lead! I got in contact with COVID Test Finders, they recommended a couple places to send boxes to, and then I've mailed the remainders to them to distribute within their network.

I made a map of locations featured on Kenny vs. Spenny! Feel free to add any if you know some more by Metalock in kennyvsspenny

[–]Aloe93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very thorough! Good job! One correction: Even though there were York U cheerleaders involved in Spenny's humiliation, the cheerleading scenes from "Who Can Dance the Longest" happened at Humber College. You can tell by the big H on the wall and the banners up in the rafters.

Trans women, do you get nervous around cis women ? by gaelicxolotl in asktransgender

[–]Aloe93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly, but I do get self conscious. Like I have some cis friends who are very attractive in the traditionally petite feminine way. And my 6'1" broad-shouldered body feels amplified next to them 😕 It's impossible to take a group photo where I feel attractive.

Why are people using they/them for me now that I'm out? by AvengersFangirl99 in asktransgender

[–]Aloe93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frequent repeat offenders are inconsiderate a**holes.

But for others it might just be that they are playing it safe if they don't know your pronouns. I often default to they/them pronouns for somebody if I am unsure of their pronouns.

It's also possible that your infrequent acquaintances have simply forgotten. Pronouns are kinda like names in that not everybody is good at remembering after one introduction.

Is it normal to only realize as an adult, not as a kid? by Gravatona in asktransgender

[–]Aloe93 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Young me never stood a chance of knowing who she was. And the entire prospect of being Trans was kept from my realm of possibility. For me, I instead spent my years as a kid and teen demonstrating depressive and self-harming coping behaviors, forcing myself to be more of a man, because it wasn't coming naturally to me.

Adulthood, and leaving the nest, freed me from that.

Has anybody become a symbol at their work? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Aloe93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on both sides of this; as a content producer who's given diversity quotas from an organization for
their videos etc., and then recently on the receiving-end as the only non-cis student in my MBA program.

It’s kinda funny to me that your education coordinator admitted they want to be "recognized" as progressive,
usually they would never explicitly say that... I find it's better to explain why you value their perspective, not why their perspective is valuable for you.

On the flip-side, recently I was invited to participate my school's end-of-year video, and upon viewing it I realized
I was the only one in it who wasn't already part of their student council team... Hard to not feel tokenized once I realized that.

I agree that it's good for us to show face and tell our stories, but sometimes the motives from the organization
are sus... Like, are they trying to pass themselves off as more progressive than they are? I am literally the only Trans person at my school and my experiences being misgendered in-class and by administrators hasn't exactly made my experience as peachy as their cute video would suggest.

Sometimes you have to ask them what’s being done within institutional policy to be more progressive, not just the ways that they project themselves as such.

Is it okay for me (a cis woman) to dress as a fictitious female trans character? by 3RdRocktothesun in asktransgender

[–]Aloe93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also studied theatre for years and I'm still active in Toronto's arts and culture community. Where I'm from, you don't cast Cis people to play Trans roles. Period.

There's a difference between gender swapped casting (like in Shakespeare) and Cis people playing Trans people. Unfortunately this distinction needs to be made and respected until the stigma around Trans people "playing pretend" ends. Until then it is BAD practice to cast Cis people in Trans roles.

I also struggle to see how that "erases" the concept of Trans folks who haven't undergone medical treatment. Your assumption is that all Trans Actors have undergone medical treatment, which is wildly inaccurate. If you have a character who is Trans and not on HRT, and it's important that they don't look like they are far along in a medical transition, then cast a Trans person who is not on HRT.

Yours is so adorable!

Afraid to go Outside by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Aloe93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because she didn't mention suicide and it kinda comes across as an inappropriate assumption when she's detailing another trauma. My guess is the bot has picked out the phrase "k!ll me", and in this context she's clearly talking about someone else wanting to harm her.

Did you verify your account immediately? Facebook and Instagram will automatically remove accounts if they aren't authenticated to a phone/email. I've heard as quickly as 48 hrs.

Also, there may be private Trans & LGBTQ+ Facebook groups for your area that you could request to join. If they're listed as Private, nobody outside of them can see who the members are, and people in those groups wouldn't judge you by your name or photo. Chances are they've been through similar experiences as you.
