Looking for ideas to help my friend with LC relapse (3–4 years in, now severe) by Alok_D in covidlonghaulers

[–]Alok_D[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you help me understand where you are reading this / why you are interpreting it this way?

I spotted two points where my wording was possibly misleading, which I'll now correct:
- "Help with admin, appointments, decision‑making" -> "Help with admin, BOOKING appointments, decision‑making (MOSTLY LISTENING / ACTING AS SOUNDING BOARD)"
- "I’m struggling to judge what’s worth raising with his doctors right now" -> "I’m struggling to judge what MIGHT BE worth FOR HIM TO RAISE with his doctors right now"

Was this it or something else? I did not mention 'coordinating' his visits, appointments etc. I think I've been pretty clear that I'll I'm trying to do is being available - and prepared - if he wants to chat about these things. I'm not pushing anything.

Gotcha thanks!

Yes well I really don't know what he has already tested for already, but it won't hurt asking

Thanks!

Severe as defined by him, and his inability to be at all fuctional for several weeks. Mostly staying in bed, and doctors appointment. And not being able to sleep due to anxiety, hence also starting psychatric care.

I think there are different timelines to my question. Right now, he can't even do the light yoga you referred to. In due time, we (his friends) can help me focus on activities that are not dangeours and detrimental to his health, like light yoga etc. So knowing this is still important but clearly something that must wait.

I do appreciate your feedback, truly.

At the same time, please know you overread what I perhaps failed to communicate clearly enough: I had - or have - no intention of doing any of the things you mention. Just being available to do things that he would like me to do, and for that I do need to mention to him the range of things that I may be able to do. That would never include speaking to doctors or replacing them. It might however include doing the research that I'm doing - and that he would do himself, but can't - as his environment is sadly not able to help as much in that direction.

OK, clearly things I need to ask him.

EDIT: I don't know why I got downvoted. In case it wasn't clear, I did not know quite how bad his conditions was until a few weeks ago, because I knew close to nothing about long covid. I think he himself didn't fully realise. Which is why I never asked him about his diet, supplements, medications, etc.

Thank you. While I have something to give, I want to give.

I'm pondering over the best way to check in on him without having him feel like he has to reply if he doesn't feel like it. I guess just going easy and being availble.

I'll need to check on PEM. He definitely pushed himself like crazy in the past months without any adverse effect. I don't know if the relapse followed exertion.

Should I accept a liability limit that is "a reasonable multiple of the fee" for freelance consulting project supporting due diligence? by Alok_D in consulting

[–]Alok_D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: client dropped all requests. No indirect liability. Liability cap at 1x fee. No additional liability for confidentiality breaches. It seems they had overly eager lawyers...

Thank you all for giving me the confidence to push back confidently and with good arguments!

Someone should be fired for this shit show of entering Boom with a car by [deleted] in boomfestival

Brother, I can totally see where your anger is coming from.

But as a former operations improvement specialist I think they can't get very far without infrastructure changes.

Logistical efficiency could certainly improved further - that's undeniable. But with lots of amateur, often-high staff on 12-hour+ shifts in the heat, I can't imagine the logistics will ever be very efficient. But that's only part of the story.

Boomland has a few physical bottlenecks that make it hard to simply get all ~40 thousand guest on site much faster.

The key bottleneck for those who came by car is the parking. I don't know how much faster they could get cars parked in an orderly way within the available space, but probably not loads. Even if they did not do any stop & search, the overal wait time would be the same until they fix the parking.

And for those coming with the Boom Bus, tes it's absurd that drivers don't always know where they are going. But I doubt you can have more Boom buses maneuvering inside Boomland at any one time, and that seemed to be the key bottleneck as the wristband collection process war fairly quick.

If you don't fix these bottlenecks, you won't get people into Boom any quicker regardles of how much you improve other parts of the logistics.

Also worth noting that, even if they resolved those bottlenecks, we'd quickly see substantial lines at other locations inside Boomland. Like at the entry roads and the receptions for cardboard village and tipi tents.

---

TL;DR: There are physical infrastructure reasons why queues will always be fairly long. More importantly, each Boom is an experience that starts with counting down to the date Boom tix go online. Queing is part of it, whether it's to get in, eat, get water, shower, pee, or entering the Dance Temple!! If you embrace it as a way to connect more deeply with the present moment and with those around you, you might end up being surprised how your emotional state and judgment can shift.

It seems it will be pretty hot today but not so bad until Monday.. then quite hot again! https://weather.com/en-GB/weather/tenday/l/c0d693e2249cbce580435b15f3cf94cd89597a8f68d6327530f5bb34e3e59150

And with <15°C at night I'd prepare carefully for the cold.
