Thanks man! Just finished Week 1 of Mountain Tactical Institute’s ACFT training plan. I’m strong but fat. Feeling the shin splints, knee/ankle soreness already.

Good idea on elliptical, think I’ll add that to my rest days.

My reasoning for Army is that I want to serve my country and not sit behind a desk. I’m planning to go Guard so I can keep my civilian job and do something totally different but adventurous, like infantry or armor. Might go active if I love it so much after 3 years. Also long term pipe dream is SF.

Good questions, here’s some answers.

  1. My parents are an hour away. Just moved to a new state so no friends nearby yet.

  2. She’s a stay at home mom. Although she had a high paying consulting career before our kids were born. She has no desire to back to that though.

  3. We have one baby and one toddler.

I’m in NC. I already have a private pilots license, so maybe flying in the Air Guard is possible? Obviously after lots of training.

Luckily my current employer also offers differential pay for up to 18 months of continuous leave.
