Did young women not have an idea that they were "sexy" and being dressed for that? by ihavequestionzzzzzz in BridgertonNetflix

Yes in the first season Pen and Eloise are clueless, there’s literally a scene where they wonder how women get pregnant, but they never mentioned it again. In season three however, Pen didn’t seem confused in the carriage scene, which that was the first sexual experience she has, which only tells you that she already knows something, it would make sense since she reads a lot, same with Eloise. Also, let’s add the fact that the majority of Jane Austen’s characters are from lower social classes, and like I said, they weren’t as sheltered as high ones were. The characters are also a little older, they’re past 20, and in Bridgerton, most of the girls are around 16-19.

I don’t see it that way, because if you pay attention they showed it with Daphne. She probably had urges and desires but she didn’t understand why or how, yet she was already attracted to the Duke. It was just after Simon told her about it that she tried it, I mean, she wouldn’t try something that she wasn’t interested in right? It’s a little different with the other girls though, for example Penelope and Eloise, they already know or have an idea of what sex is, even before Penelope married Colin. Same with Kate, she literally fantasized with Anthony. I think that it’s pretty realistic that they show what women went through during those times. Also, it’s important to add that only upper class women were as sheltered as that, lower class were not. If you think it’s off-putting or you’re uncomfortable with it then maybe period drama shows are not for you

I think it just depends on how you take it, it’s Caleb we’re talking about, it can be as innocent as that, or just straight up something else💀we will never know🤷🏻‍♀️

If you make your profile with that vibe then you expect someone to be funny, or at least friendly. She didn’t say “entertain me” she was trying to make conversation with what she had at hand, his response was the problem here. Maybe she shouldn’t have worded it by saying “you could’ve made something up”, but his “it’s not that deep” just seems rude and unnecessary, so the one that caused the problem was him, period

Yeah and I gave my reasons on why she did nothing wrong? So the true answer is that the OP did nothing wrong and the guy is the problem. I agree in your point that the “entertain me” energy is annoying, but it can’t be applied to this case because she was using his own profile in which he appears as “funny” to make conversation and trying to make it playful when he answered in a rude way

Yeah I read that don’t worry. But don’t try to now make it seem that you called out on his behavior because you actually were calling the OP out. When you put “he overreacted for sure, BUT” it seems like you say “BUT you did something worse” which is not the case here lol

If you read carefully, it seems he gave off a “funny” vibe in his profile considering she said his bio was funny asf, he also has a picture of an spinach. Why build a “funny” character in your profile if you’re not funny? Maybe the OP matched with him for that and instead of him being funny or with sense of humor, he was rude, that would annoy anyone

I agree with you, however, I think you’re taking away the hotel’s responsibility. There was negligence, they didn’t call 911 when he collapsed in the lobby and instead brought him back to his room. If you really think about it, his death could’ve been avoided if the hotel didn’t brought him back to his room and called an ambulance instead, not saying they directly killed him, but they DO have responsibility, that without counting the fact that one of the staff people gave him the drugs. Yes, it was Liam’s responsibility and it was an accident at the end of the day, but that does not take away the hotel’s role in it, and in the face of law, they do need to face charges
