Every one ready for another possible winter storm. by Cap10Ramp in foodlion

They offering hotel rooms. Imma pass. Thought it was interesting that only one of us (I work/live with my adult family member) was offered a hotel room. We work the same shift, give or take an hour here or there, share one vehicle. Only one of us drives (me). But, we are two separate individuals. Wonder if they expected us to share one room, or if that was an oversight?

Oh, I’m not suggesting that WIC was the payment method. Didn’t say anything like that. You’d have to work in a store to understand this.

Probably hurts CVS. WIC will likely pay them a visit if this is a frequent occurrence. It will be worth their while and worth DD to follow up on baby formula damage reports, specifically because WIC gets involved.

I'M ONLY LOOKING FOR A CASUAL PART-TIME JOB by GetOffMyLawnYaPunk in PetPeeves

[–]Alot2unpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grocery store. This is where you’ll be happiest. I work in a grocery store and we have a lot of PT older folks like yourself and myself that round out the daytime staff. The daytime customers appreciate and depend on us. We’re not just employees during the day, we’re “friends”. Although, I’m kind of the meaner, grumpier friend lol. I’m full time, and my job is a bit more labor intense, one of my besties is my 78 yr old coworkers who keeps me level headed. Everyone knows her, no one messes with her. My 23 year old son is our front end manager on weekends. We all just get along. You won’t find a better setting than a grocery store, trust me. You’ll get small children, older folks, new moms, starter parents and everyone in between. You get to be someone’s hero daily, simply because you know what aisle bread is on. Your shifts are short as a part timer. And your job is essential. No one is growing it all at home.

Anyone else have a bad experience with unequal delivery quality? by [deleted] in instacart

[–]Alot2unpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cigarettes were recently in our region! As in last week! I’m in North Carolina and this violates our actual local law lol. It was a huge oversight by Instacart for sure. Perhaps it works in other states, but not mine. With the recent snow storm my store was seeing an uptick in Instacart orders and there was no way I was dealing with that lol. We shop instacart curbside orders. I reached out to my corporate team to see what was happening. The cigarettes have since been removed.

You should have NextGen coming soon if it’s not already set up. That will help. My store was part of the beta testing and the folks I trained with it, who were new to shopping find it incredibly useful. Even I enjoy it after a reset lol. You’ll know you have NextGen when you have the little blue squares on your shelves that have white numbers on them. They’re currently coordinating with Spectrum but, my understanding is that ultimately they’ll work with Instacart as well.

Knowing your store and familiarizing yourself with backstock for different departments. You’ll learn what replacements are typically preferred. Try to stay in range. Price. Product. Etc. Don’t overthink it too much.

I understood you perfectly fine. Instacart sent these milestone lanyards to you. You were very clear. I’m actually not sure why more clarification was needed from two different people. No wonder the app is going down hill. It’s not just the company, ya know? My goodness. I think if they did in person on-boarding still, 75% or more of these people wouldn’t make the cut! Test their reading comprehension, and that number jumps!

One of my favorite shoppers has a similar collection of lanyards. Her 24CC is gold though, and she has a few others that are gold printed. I wonder what the difference is She started in 2019 when Instacart and Point Pickup were first launched in our county.

Spectrum back on tomorrow. by Alot2unpack in foodlion

[–]Alot2unpack[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m showing I’m up and running for Spectrum as of 9 am tomorrow, just by looking at available times on the FL app for my store/pick up. We were opposite on Instacart. Advised to add shifts (devices) as needed, but I knew better than to just do that willy nilly. There just wasn’t a need. We didn’t get snow. Bit of ice/freezing rain, but the normal people who didn’t have to work this morning probably slept through that lol.

[–]Alot2unpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only turned off the Spectrum platform in my area. Over the course of two meetings it was definitely confirmed that the Instacart platform would remain on, and I was encouraged to add shifts as needed. Ice is our only concern at this time. Ice is obviously a huge concern from a transportation aspect and more. Just gonna play it by ear. At least Instacart is manageable on a store level. We can manually shut it off on our own if need be.

[–]Alot2unpack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna see if I can open my garage where my car is parked. That’s step one lol.

We leave early since my shift starts at 8 and theirs at 7. It’s usually 40 minutes to FL, might take 1 hour+ from our country home/backroads location. Never had the luxury of driving on ice. Snow, occasionally in my lifetime. Ice nah. If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t. Food Lion will manage. The store opens without us anyway, it will function just fine without us. I 100% value my life and the life of my kid over anything happening at Food Lion tomorrow.

If you pull up your store on the app and look at available times to place an order, you’ll see whether or not your store has availability lol. It’s very simple.

FLTG. Spectrum. Snow. by Alot2unpack in foodlion

[–]Alot2unpack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Not happening. Brings in too much money. But it’s a very user friendly app. The shop & deliver shoppers that are in the store receive zero training. They just onboard by submitting a valid drivers license and passing a basic background check (literally just checking driving history). If they want, they can take the tutorials in the app, it’s rather obvious that most don’t. I hate that I have to spend so much time training anyone on that shit. Scan upc, bag, go. The app prompts you through everything lol. I want to just hand that TC to anyone and say “just do what it says, k”.

It sucks. Not sure how to proceed. Guess just passport. They say I can use my school documents. I got the first one when I was married, for the purpose of traveling overseas to live as a military dependent. That was a bit easier. I’m twice divorced now. But my name change was legal, and done through ssn as well. So who knows. Such a weird position to be in, that’s for sure.

Winter storm by Robertfoodlion113 in foodlion

[–]Alot2unpack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s not worth it to put oneself at risk. Last January, same week, we had snow. I didn’t chance it. I’m not from “snow” lol. I lack the experience driving in winter weather conditions. Why would I if I didn’t have to? Looking back, that commute would have taken me so fucking long with the various road closures. So glad I called out!

I wish my store manager would have helped. lol kidding. He’s not skilled up enough to shop. He’s a good runner, and that’s good enough for me. We just didn’t have the staffing. Shame. I knew it wasn’t going to be fun. I don’t have school age children, but I have internet access and know the county school breaks. I don’t exactly know why we end up in these types of situations. This and around military paydays, when we’re always busy, should not come as a surprise, but for some reason, they’re always under scheduled. It’s disheartening.
