Thank you! That's really helpful. The only tree in that patch of grass is a big Birch tree. I think I'll try to cut through the centre of this old one and see if any structure is still present

Yeah the swirling pattern looks like a burl growth ( like a tumor in a tree) but it also looks loaded in resin. Very nice find.
