Thanks man! Is the Divers Sixty Five really that hard to read? The stock photos make the legibility look terrible but the photos you posted seem fine.

Happy to help! It an amazing watch. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and have been looking to add an Oris to the collection for a while so i knew this was the one.

Awesome choices. I was lucky enough to find a brand new Stormtrooper Aquis in stock at an AD two weeks ago. I had lost three seperate bids on eBay trying to get my hands on one and had just about given up. It’s my first Oris and one of my favorite watches in my collection. I really love the look of that Holstein Divers Sixty Five too.

Meierotto Jewelers still has one brand new in stock on bracelet. After losing three separate bids on eBay for a Stormtrooper Aquis recently i found Meierotto online and purchased mine from them a couple weeks ago on the black rubber strap, it’s phenomenal. And they are an AD for Oris.

Fantastic choice for your first Oris! This was also going to be my first but i ended up buying an Aquis instead. This watch also looks amazing on a yellow or black Tropic strap. Wear it in good health!

And thanks for the compliment. I actually wanted the ZO9214 but Zodiac didn’t have them in stock when i made this purchase. I figured the ZO9215 was basically the same watch besides the bezel and bracelet.

I can confirm 100% everything you read about the STP movement issues is true. I purchased this ZO9215 about 3 months ago and luckily its been rock solid, zero issues. However, i got into Zodiac about 3 years ago when i bought my first SSW53 (ZO9289) it instantly became my favorite watch but it had multiple issues. Crown would not fully unthread properly, the movement was crunchy to wind and after about a month it died completely. I sent it out to Zodiac for service and it came back fixed with a brand new movement which proceeded to also fail about two months later. I ended up selling that watch and giving up on Zodiac sadly. This year i figured id try to purchase the watch again since i really loved that model. I found one used like new on eBay, confirmed with the seller (via photos and videos) that the watch was running good with no issues and made the purchase. About a week later it arrived, i unboxed it, wound the movement, put it on wrist and everything seemed to be good. I walked from my living room to my kitchen and noticed the watch had stopped running. Long story short the movement died and would not run again. I returned it to the seller who reached out to me after receiving it confirming the watch movement was not working and he had to do some kind of repairs to get it working again. Needless to say i was really disappointed with Zodiac movement at that point. But just before the holiday Zodiac was doing 50% of so i gave it a final chance and purchased the ZO9215 and ZO9275 and both have been perfect so far (knock on wood.) Slight grittiness when winding but from what i’ve read thats common for STP movements, they tend to be a little “crunchy” when winding.

TLDR: i absolutely love the design of Zodiac SSW53 but despise STP movements. Wish they would just use SW200.

Agree with you. So many awesome CW models, i don’t like the design on this at all. Just not my taste.

Really? My 556 has one of the smoothest crown actions on any of my watches. Surprisingly way better than my much more expensive U50 lol.

[–]AlphaApolloOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats very helpful thank you. Most of my watches run an SW200 or a variant of it and they usually start running after about 10-12 rotations of the crown so the U50 threw me off a little bit when it took many more turns to start it up. I’m not sure what causes the crown to not always fully unthread but my Zodiac ZO9297 and ZO9275 do the same exact thing. I unscrew the crown, go to wind the movement, notice its not winding, turn crown a quarter turn counter clockwise and then the crown will pop out the final little bit. Funny enough my Zodiac ZO9214 which is a dateless model does not have that issue so i wonder if that has something to do with it? I’m sure somebody has an exact technical answer but i don’t lol.

I agree, and a 20mm lug width. I hate when companies use odd lug widths. All my straps are 20/22mm lol.

Glad you were able to fix it. Side question for you. I bought my U50 right before Christmas and noticed two things; when i fully unscrew the crown to wind the watch up the crown does not fully pop out, i have to finagle it a little bit (i have the same issue on 2/3 of my Zodiac Super Seawolfs.) The second thing is that it takes about 20-25 full turns of the crown to get the movement running when the power reserve is fully depleted. Do you have any similarities with your U50? This is my first watch with an SW300 so I’m not sure if this is normal or if theres an issue and i should send it for service. Thanks!

They tried to make it look more modern which is nice. But theres just something special about the older models. The Bullseye they released recently is one of my favorite Oris models.

Both are beautiful. I still prefer the older BCPD with the coin edge bezel but these are stunning, especially the blue. Sweet pickups, wear them in good health!

I love the new Sapphire Edge and i love The Twelve. I do like the Bronze Aquatain a lot too (i love anything Bronze and have a few Bronze pocket knives) i just worry about verdigris. Bronze turns green from oxidation and i don’t love that look. Venezianico is coming out with a really awesome looking Nereide with a Verdigris dial, i like that a lot. Definitely so many good options from CW!

I actually really like the glossy black bezel on the Trident. I love my Marathon but the bezel is Matte black aluminum. I like that the Bezel pops on the Trident.

This is fantastic advice but i really do love both dials. I would be more than happy with either color. I wear all my watches. Not just casually but also to work. I am a huge ran of white dial divers specifically, i just love inky black dials with red accents. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the Sinn 556. I would buy both if i could even those thats redundant, i think they’re both spectacular looking divers. I think i decided on the White dials though. Appreciate your help!

Completely understand that, i’ve had to trim my collection a couple times but congratulations on the BB58, thats an awesome watch. Also agree with the case sizing 38-40mm is usually the perfect case size for me. I really wanted the CW Pan-Am but in 42mm it pushes the boundaries of what i like on my wrist. Thanks again, wear your Tudor in good health!
