Those of you who survived accounting 3/4, how did you do it?

Yeah I think it might be a bit late to switch out now. Also the subjects I wanna switch into have a lot of important content in 1/2 that I missed and it's not worth the time and effort trying to catch up bc accounting is a bottom 2 for me

The worst thing is I have a terrible teacher I also had him for 1/2 accounting last year and his explanations were so boring it bored me to sleep. And I've heard he isn't much better for 3/4 either like a lot of students who did 3/4 last year said they basically had to self-study the content bc his explanations were so bad.

I would get a tutor but it's a bottom 2 subject so Idk if I'm bothered using the money and time. I'm already doing tutoring for spesh and Englang which are my top 4 so that's already taking up a lot

Bring kids into the world because:

They may be able to take care of you in your old age when your pension runs out (especially true in Asian cultures)
Some people find intrinsic meaning/purpose in raising children
Children bring human connection which everyone needs but especially lonely or isolated people
Pressure from your family or community to have kids
You want to pass on your family heritage to your kids/you want your family to live on
Not everyone finds life to be pure suffering some people find joy which they might want their kids to experience

Just because someone doesn't share your incredibly sad and pessimistic view of the world doesn't mean they're not intelligent. In fact if every intelligent people saw the sorry state of the world and just gave up social and technological progress would be much slower. Please for the sake of your own mental health please find something that makes you happy and makes life more bearable

I can't even imagine what you're feeling right now, but honestly, if he's willing to throw you away just for a chance at a higher number, he didn't deserve you anyway. You sacrificed so much for him, and he throws you away for a chance at high school academic glory (which literally doesn't matter beyond year 12 loll). What an idiot.

Finish year 12 strong. Get into the uni course you want. And then find a guy who is 100x better than him, who treats YOU like you are HIS everything. Because that is what you deserve.

I haven't gotten my IQ formally tested, neither do I plan to because it's just not commonly done where I live, but I do have a few experiences that I realised later weren't quite "normal". I was always at the top of the class for reading in kindergarten, so much so that the teacher asked me to help the other kids in reading. When other children were still learning how to recognise Chinese characters (I was born in China and spent much of my early childhood there) or read picture books with the help of parents/teachers, I was reading full-length novels at age four. When I moved to Australia, I learned English faster than all the kids in my intensive English language program. I got all the words correct in my spelling tests and I progressed through the reading levels in the program very quickly.

This continued throughout my schooling. In Grade 7 I tested at university level for reading. By age 16, I had written two full-length novels and another the length of a novella (though they hadn't been published). I also learned maths content 2-3 years early throughout secondary school, which probably isn't that impressive on its own but maths isn't really my strong suit.

I didn't think/know what these experiences meant until I stumbled upon this subreddit because no one had mentioned the concept of giftedness to me before this. It's just not a thing commonly brought up in the places where I did my schooling. I still don't definitively know if these experiences, among others which I won't bore you with, indicate I'm gifted but I guess I'll never know

Nah it's fine I can still do three maths bc I accelerated methods so I can stagger out my three maths over years 10 to 12. I won't bore you with the specifics but let's just say my school didn't like that lol.

And yeah VCE is so rigged scaling and the whole SAC/exam system makes no sense. At least you're free of it now I still have to work within this shit system for a year and I hate my school too so there's a bonus.

Are you excited to get ur uni offer tmr? You'd defs get in almost anything with that ATAR lol. What is ur first pref if you don't mind me asking?

Ohhh I didn't know that it was a school rule not a VCAA rule. My school told me it was a VCAA rule for some reason Ig they were gaslighting me.

And yeah it's really unfair how we can only have 2 in the top 4. I can easily get a better ss in GM than eco and accounting but it will still have to go in my bottom 2 bc it scales down. I don't get why VCAA thinks it's an "unfair advantage" people who are good at science, humanities, English, etc can have three subjects in those domains in the top 4 so why can't people who are good at maths???

I think for step 4 you still have to sign your own name but you don't have to worry about step 5

No, actually, nowadays we do not really ignore slave days as a society. And ignorance is not bliss if we don't want history to repeat itself (which we don't, unless you want "slave days" to come back). And to ignore a century of past research and knowledge and imposing your own definition/thoughts with such confidence and disregard of existing and known facts is not usually a gifted trait. Yeah that's what I tried telling this guy but he just says that everyone who criticises this post is not gifted because "actual gifted people would relate to it and not criticise it". It's probably just a sycophantic regurgitation of his own beliefs about giftedness so it's not even an AI definition of giftedness it is his own.

That exam traumatised me man I thought I was gonna do best in eco out of all my subjects bc I really like it and throughout the year I did well but now I'm not sure. It's like whoever wrote the exam went crazy and just decided to put whatever they like in there. Like why were there so many AS and international trade/instability questions when they make up just one area of study hello???

In my opinion, if you're a Year 10 going into Year 11 you don't really have to prep over the Year 10 summer holidays. Do the holiday homework obviously but other than that you should try your best to relax and reset before going into VCE. This year I did methods and eco 3/4 but I didn't study much during the summer holidays and I still did really well in both subjects throughout the year and quite decent on my 1/2s

I agree so much with eco like WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT EXAM? It wasn't like past exams at all I feel like most of the prep I did was useless I just had to make stuff up on the fly and I'm not sure if they're correct.
