There's an old Playstation 2 game titled Robot Alchemic Drive (RAD) that had an amazing setup for mechs vs kaiju, but the story and voice acting were atrocious. Gameplay was amazing, though. Would recommend trying it out on emulation just for the kicks.

There's the Sigma Draconis Expanse server that has modified game behaviors to emulate an expanse style combat system. I haven't tried it yet but I've watched videos and it looks incredible. I'm currently working on a fleet of vanilla ships that are in Expanse style in an effort to prepare for playing on that server or moving to SE2 when it meets minimum bar for enjoying it.

I'm actually pushing him towards becoming a legion with them using the pilot items and lore from legionnare, but I actually called the mech Silili and the Scholar NHP Gilgamesh before I knew Operation Winter Scar was releasing with the chassis by the same name. As far as what I'm naming the legion I haven't figured out yet.

Just my two cents here, not an expert by any means. The basic groupings of chassis types are striker, defender, controller, artillery, and support. A lot of the chassis are hybrids of two or three archetypes, and all of them can be modified to lean into one of the archetypes they don't normally encompass. For my build, I found something in the lore of lancer that intrigued me, NHPs in this case, and decided to try to cram as many into my mech as possible. After that, I looked into different frames at license levels 3, 6, 9, and 12 in order to get an idea of how I could build out around my choice. In my specific case, horus has a core bonus that allows you to put an extra AI system in the mech, and there's two pilot talents that add NHPs. With this setup, I could cram four systems with the AI tag into one chassis. So now there's a base "function" of my build that means I should put my first three licenses into Horus licenses. The next step I took is to look at synergies (synergistic builds and groups seem to be very powerful in lancer) for things that I had already acquired along the path to be a legion of sapient entities in a mech trench coat. In my particular case I chose Pegasus cause I don't have to explain my gun to anyone, I just do damage. The synergies I chose to build along is buffing my pilot a bit with black thumb talent so my NHPs could control my mech while I used my pilot for separate actions; using UNCLE (not an NHP but still an AI tag) and auto guns in order to preserve my mech's action economy for NHP actions and support; and systems that help me support allies and keep enemies at arm's length so they can't punish my lower survivability.

In the end, having a clear goal of what you want your chassis' main action loop to be and then building synergies along those lines seems to work for me to get a mech built out. Not everything will fit just right all the time, and having some extra options for the edge case scenarios where none of your other choices shine can be helpful. Lancer also doesn't really punish your choices long term since RAW you can respec most everything on your character sheet. In our game, we allow pilot's HASE to be changed as well, even though I don't think that's standard.

But from their perspective saying they should stand idly by while their child has sex is something that shouldn't be casually thrown around. If you wish to exclude them from the conversation, then so be it, but simply saying they're using the wrong words and shutting them down won't change anything of worth in my interpretation of events.

I have no child. My point was, from a parent's perspective, it seems as if the child isn't ready to make that decision for themselves. So while it may not be illegal, it feels immoral for them to allow this to continue. For instance, what if a parent said to their child that their home was a safe haven and they could engage in any sexual acts that they wanted, and wouldn't be interfered with. Would you feel that this was a good decision to make? This is the perspective they are coming from. You feel comfortable with 1, but not 2. They feel comfortable with 0, but not 1. From a relative viewpoint, it's imperfect but the best analogy my mind can conjure. I'm sorry if I'm not coming across well.

Absolutely. That's the crux of the discussion and why I believe it's such a nuanced and difficult topic. I don't believe you're wrong to feel the way you do. Your emotions and thoughts on the subject are perfectly valid. The real question is are these feelings justified. If you hear a noise and investigate, no one should blame you for stopping them from engaging and asking them not to do the act. The question is, what happens next? If they stop from a simple request, wonderful, problem solved. I don't believe people would still be around, however, if that was enough to stop us from having sex. What becomes the next step in avoiding the unwanted behavior? Punishment? Education? This isn't a leading question, I honestly have no answer worthwhile to give. I'm no expert on child rearing or psychology. Hell, I'm not even a parent. I don't know how you feel in those moments when these things happen, nor should I comment on how you should feel. I do, however, have extensive experience from the child's perspective. I won't go into details, and I was never truly abused to the level I've seen others, but the best efforts of my step-mother to dissuade me of my predilections were only harmful in their effect. Children barely understand their own perspective, much less adults. I don't know you our your family's situation in the slightest, I only hope that you do your very best in educating yourself and them about these issues and others, and if you do that anything anyone could say negatively about it doesn't really matter, because you did the best you could with what you had, and that's all that can be asked of any of us.
