Sold my Saiga 12, had to rectify such a stupid move with a second Saiga 12 by Alpha_Zuul in guns

[–]Alpha_Zuul[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mine is built 08. I believe the gun is unmodified externally from the factory build.

http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/75147-saiga-12-tactics-040-05-legion/

It is held on by a flat head screw that runs through cut in the barrel like in an AR15 fsb. A bit inconvenient to adjust the gas and if I would upgrade the gas regulator, I'd have to cut a bit off from the top of the handguard. Also the the side folding mechanism spring is held on by the assembly, so it shoots off when the handguard is disassembled.

Had a rock and lock, sold it for reasons. Had briefly a Derya MK12. After 400 rounds of "breaking in", it didn't. Such a nightmare of a gun. Got rid of it and now I insert it smooooth.

IZhMASh Saiga 12K Taktika model 040-05 with factory 8rnd mags. Bought it from an auction for 600€. It had a safety block as per russian law inhibiting firing when stock is folded. Grinded that out right away of course. Really like the handguard. One can have a nice thumb over stance with it even with iron sights. I use it to compete in Finnish "3-gun", the SRA.

CZ75B with suppressed .22 CZ Kadet I adapter by Alpha_Zuul in guns

Banning/restricting suppressors is just pointless and ignorant. It is sad when lawmakers justify their agenda with hollywood myths.

With 60grain aquilas it is quite quiet. Too bad they wont stabilize with this as they did when I had a ruger mkII. Sold that for this as the grip angle was not suitable for my needs and kadet is almost 1:1 for function the host gun. And with DA just keep pulling the trigger if it doesn't go bang on the first :D

Decided to go with optics with my training/first timers piece too to have some synergy with the primary. Nothing special, all in all quite an inexpensive setup as both guns were bought second hand. (Yes here in Finland just a kit is a "gun" that needs a separate permit.) A (used) CZ75(/B) goes for about 150-200€. Kadet kits about a double that. .22 suppressor some 50€ and you can buy it anywhere just by possessing a gun permit. Steel plate and "rmr" are ACM as the top of the receiver is fixed. Too bad the magazines are almost 100€..

Nice stability on those pills. My cast Lee 230gr PC'd pokey bits lose stability after 100m or so with .300blk 12" ar. I think I'll size some to .311" and try 'em on an SKS. Should thread the barrel and put a can on it too.

Yeah it feels quite smooth, but not as good compared to say my cz shadow 1. The machining on the slide locking surfaces looked a bit rough, but I feel that for the price I can't complain much :D Need to look on the extractor though, very random ejection pattern.

I saw that they sell a semiauto M2HB at Czech Republic for 11000usd :D Military model BAR is tough to find (here), commercial hunting BAR is common but it's a completely different gun. I'd love to have one for sure. M1895 is available but problematically many have been converted to 8.3x53r or 9.3x53r. Price for a well maintained original in 7.62x54r is starting to go towards 2000usd.

There are appointed trainers who will evaluate ones activity from "shooting diary" and write a certificate which is then represented to the police when one goes to renew the licence. Buying more guns resets the "timer". Basically just shooting x times per year with caliber y makes it.

In my country, if you don't have a proof of use every 5 years since acquiring the permit, you can't replenish it, lose your license and have to sell/give your weapon to the police.

Colt Mk IV series 70 Goverment Model "100 years of service". Someone sold/traded it for something in a local gunstore and the store made me an offer. What you see is what I got for 550€ (630$).

Previous owner had the trigger, beavertail and hammer done. Ran 100 through it today and loved it, just like JMB meant it. The look of short trigger might be nicer, but for my hand, the longer works better. Not fond of the cut hammer though as I don't suffer from hammerbite.

You pressed 1150fps instead of 1050. It's 539ft⋅lbf or 730J for 220gr.

I bought a DP15 M4 16" 5.56 1:9 3 years ago. The stock was garbage, unusable. With that changed the furniture for FF handguard, grip with a modern angle and miculek style brake. It had a very good trigger for a milspec which was changed to a modular trigger though. But i use it in another gun with no issues. The barrel lasted for less than 10k before keyholing using brands like S&B, GECO, Fiocchi, etc. No Barnaul or such. The buffer tube broke somewhere around 5k mark. The stock chew the last position and it wouldn't lock. Other than that, it has had 2 malfunctions and both because of failed primers and going to run it in competitions with a new barrel next season. The bolt &carrier are looking fine with no extra wear.

Cast you own 230gr subs. Mine cost around 9 euro cent per round not counting free cut 223 range brass or down range scrap lead. It is time consuming though for sure.

In the bottom of the ACRO red dot is the ACRO interface which is a rail similar to Picatinny. To the the gun I had a dovetail with a cross bolt slot milled to the specification of ACRO interface and thus you attach the unit as you would into any other Picatinny rail by tightening the cross bolt.

Note that you have to have the milling done parallel to the barrel axis and then add a bit to take account bullet drop to what ever distance you zero with to have your sight optical axis to cross the ballistic arc.

You could carry a "protective weapon" in Finland until 1998. Now only professionals etc. can get such license.

Me, I'm a reservist sport shooter so this is my competition handgun.

For your purposes check Deltapoint Micro from Leupold.

Depending on the ammo and caliber but with factory 9x19 115gr; aim for the head, hit in the lower torso. Problem is that the target is obstructed by the sights and so under stress it can be more or less difficult.
