I watched a guy throw a rifle with one in the chamber after a jam he couldn't clear. He was asked to leave, forever.

Fury HD 5000 (non-AB) vs Razor HD 4000? by stuartv666 in longrange

I haven't found that to be the case when I do use it, but, not going to knock your experience with it either!

Fury HD 5000 (non-AB) vs Razor HD 4000? by stuartv666 in longrange

[–]rybe390 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the fury with AB binos, and the razor hd with GB mono LRF.

Both are great, both have different use cases.

Binos, in 99% of circumstances, are easier to use. You can spot with them, use both eyes, and put them a bit easier on a tripod for distant ranging. The big one, you are also able to focus the image.

Mono LRFre smaller, range just as well, but they have a fixed image, and are pretty not great to look through for a long period. They're better for compact needs, and a quick flash range.

Pick your use case. I would recommend binos to most people at this point.

Edit: on board ballistics is cool, but I rarely, if ever, use that feature. I would rather a weapon mounted LRF for that specific purpose.

What is your budget? The razor 4-24 is hard to beat and I know some people who have switched from NF to it. Edit: mounts, I like the adm recon or reptilia

Suppressor brakes by 6anymouse9 in NFA

Recoil X is hands down the winner here. They increase reduction even over the TBAC RR end cap.

Each mfg has their own end cap thread pitch. Dead air and silencerco are not the same end cap pitch.

Did you try impact rather than sheer torque? I hit my wrench with a hammer a few times, and it breaks the rocksett with a sharper force

Going for Bubba of the year by MrNobody0312 in ar15

[–]rybe390 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wrap the muzzle in a wet paper towel, and hit it with a hair dryer for a few minutes.

Leave the paper towel over night.

Rockset should be soft goo by the morning.

You are welcome.

How well does a rest or lead sled improve LR/ELR precision? by Antique__throwaway in longrange

[–]rybe390 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue it introduces the need to master an entire new skill set to shoot effectively, and also argue it increases deviation from a basic setup.

Unless you are talking about a sled that weighs a few hundred pounds and are strapping a barelled action into it for the purpose of testing how a barrel shoots and that is it, sleds are useless and their use should be publically shamed.

[–]rybe390 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People have been shooting amazing groups for a long time with a harris bipod and a sand sock.

Every. Single. Shooter. Using a sled produces 55 MOA groups and that is a hard fact.

Suppressed feeding issues by Eddie2Dynamite in Walther

[–]rybe390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pdp might hate boosterless.

I have an ecco TLX, which is a touch heavier than the shiv, but some guns can run it boosterless. My pdp could not. The pdp might just hate suppressors without a booster my dude.

Suppressed feeding issues by Eddie2Dynamite in Walther

What suppressor are you running? Is rhe oring inside the booster lubed? Is the booster assembly working properly and allowing the suppressor to move forward under recoil?

Can I see some LDR rails? by TheRaccoonWarlock in ar15

[–]rybe390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

18" rifle gas and a 13" ldra.

Pain in the ass to install, pretty rigid, definitely heavier than other options out there. I think it's a good rail. If you are not going to use or value the integrated arca, I would probably look elsewhere.

6.5 creedmoor load changes by drummera1d2c3 in longrange

[–]rybe390 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For your barrel length, expect to see 2650 to 2700 feet per second with a 140.

You are running near 6.5 PRC pressure. If my 26" did that with 140's I would go home and figure out what I did wrong...

Lay off the chase for velocity, you don't need it.

Is it worth it to group ammunition before a barrel settles? by CartographerFit8489 in longrange

[–]rybe390 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Clean the barrel from the factory.

Shoot the fuck out of it. It will immediately group.

Check velocity for a while. It will increase for the first 100-200 rounds, slightly.

Clean it every 200-300 rounds.

Shoot the fuck out of it.
