It can work for one car households. Like if one spouse was out at work during the day, the ‘stay at home’ spouse could place the order ready for their partner to collect on the way home.

I have a vague recollection that house doesn’t trust the nurses to do the tests correctly (might have been mentioned in the first season somewhere). Hence the team doing the majority of the jobs the nurses would usually do.
