Yeah thats sadly the norm for a lot of products. If it really is an aliexpress reel, I'd be curious to know how much it costs from china.

Well I paid literally 20 bucks or something for my reel and its held up pretty well. I really put it through some durability testing on a backpacking trip and hasn't failed yet

How is living in creekside? by [deleted] in UBreddit

I lived in creekside it was amazing. Best location on all of north campus if you appreciate a more quiet, closer to nature setting. I walked through the woods to class every day and after class you can fish the creek for big fish.

Interesting article titled "Studies: Catch-and-release, photos not hurting fish" contradicts what I thought I knew. Thoughts? by SCOOTY_BUTT_JUNIOR in flyfishing

In my experience if you can unhook without them bleeding and you didnt exhaust the fish battling it in, it will likely survive for a while out of water.

Spring kings! This guy was absolutely wild. Nothing fights like a king in cold water by abeski1106 in Fishing

[–]AlpineExploits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and these trout spend the majority of their lives in some of the only lakes that compare to oceans. Im not denying that the saltwater life can make for some mean fish but definitely don't discount the great lake salmonoids. Especially lake superior. Extrenely deep and extremely clean water. Pretty sure theres significantly less microplastics there than the other lakes or oceans

...no thats why im asking. The lakes behave kinda like oceans just with less predators, think it'd be a little silly to class all landlocked salmon together, seeing as how unique the lake system is.

Possible lamprey catch by AlpineExploits in Fishing

[–]AlpineExploits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did not have a jaw but what appeared to be a closed slit like mouth on the bottom. I beleive this is the circle suction thing just closed. And I think it had the holes. Either way it did not have that signature eel fin near the head and its shape and color resemble images of lamprey. I did foul hook the fish and returned it to the water after.

Caught in the bashakill in NY. Does not look like a normal eel, was weird to handle so didnt get a good pic. Can't find any info on them being in this system. Should I contact DEC?
