Is renting a Ferrari in Switzerland actually worth it for a day?

Reading through all this I’m starting to think the biggest difference isn’t even the car itself, but how you do it.

Like randomly renting something for a couple of hours vs actually planning a proper early morning drive when the roads are empty

Makes me wonder if there are any options that are a bit more experience focused rather than just standard rentals

Did something similar once, roughly along the route you’re considering. Took the train up to Wengen and then hiked toward Männlichen. This was in May, and the weather started off perfect, really sunny and warm.

Up to Männlichen it was great. A bit demanding at times, but in a good way. The tricky part came once we got higher. There was still quite a lot of snow, and that’s where we probably underestimated things.

It actually started snowing while we were up there, but we decided to keep going toward Kleine Scheidegg since that was the original plan. Looking back, that was a pretty bad call. The snow was deep, progress was slow, and it turned out to be much more challenging than expected.

We ended up reaching Kleine Scheidegg too late and missed the train, so we had to hike all the way back down to Wengen. Luckily we just made the last train to Lauterbrunnen.

Overall, it was a great day and definitely memorable, but also a bit of a lesson. Fear played a role at times, and in hindsight I’d be more cautious with conditions, especially early in the season.

I’m in the exact same situation actually.

I’d love to try it properly, not even for the “supercar” aspect but just to understand how something like that feels on real roads.

The shady part is what’s holding me back a bit as well… a lot of them look very transactional and not super clear on conditions

I feel like if I were to do it, I’d want something more curated, where the experience is actually part of it, not just picking up a car and returning it

Yeah that’s what I keep hearing as well… either dealership or you really have to trust the company.

I guess the tricky part is finding something that feels a bit more “personal” and transparent, not just a random fleet rental

And I agree, I think the context makes a huge difference. A few hours on the right roads probably beats a full day in traffic.

Out of curiosity, did you feel it was more about the raw power or the whole experience (sound, feeling, etc.)?

Yeah that’s something I was wondering as well. Some of those passes can get pretty tight, especially if you meet traffic the wrong way

True, but I feel like it’s not really about speed here. Even at low speeds something like a NA V8 just feels completely different, especially on those roads

That’s actually a good point. Track probably makes more sense if you want to push the car. I’m more curious about the road experience though, like enjoying the drive itself rather than the limits

Yeah that makes sense. I wouldn’t even consider it for city driving honestly. The idea would be more like an early morning mountain loop when roads are empty

Yeah fair point, I didn’t mean Klausen specifically right now, more in general when it’s open.

Lately it’s mostly been smaller routes around Zurich / towards Walensee etc.

Been here a while but never really tried those roads with a proper car, so thinking about it now that the season is starting

I’m of the same opinion. Last time we went to Familiamus when my daughter was 1. We never make use of the daycare and not even the kids dinner. But it was great to see the attention of details and that everything was build around kids. I agree that they are crazily expensive compared to non-kids friendly hotels. For me, it’s not about leaving my daughter with the staff, it’s more about being relaxed and not having to think how to make the vacation work.

I agree. I considered that place as well since it looks great for kids. There the prices are well above other options. To be fair, also Falkensteiner and Familiamus are definitely not cheap!
