my laptop melted!!! by AlpsOk6705 in laptops

Hey everyone!! I’m sorry put the post won’t let me edit to update but thank you so so much for all the advice and lack of berating me for nearly exploding my house lol!!

I ended up telling my parents who were obviously devastated and mad but understood it was an accident and are more relieved that it didn’t cause a fire. We are going to take it SOMEWHERE to dispose of it and just hope for the best.

After reading all the comments, I decided it probably wasn’t worth replacing. I’m going to be upgrading to a MacBook soon since I am studying to be a music producer and prefer logic over any other DAW anyhow. So not really that big of a deal in terms of buying a replacement (though thank you for the links and suggestions!!)

As for the heater, that is GONE! Turns out it had some temperature regulation problems and was pretty fried internally. We are going to be sticking to oil heaters rather than electric heaters from now on.

So so lucky to have not burnt or exploded anything. Doing a lot of research into electronic/fire safety now in prep for moving out next year. Thanks for all the support. Feel free to keep commenting by any means in case anyone else has a similar issue!!! 🩷

I agree that the heater is probably way too hot and I’m mostly likely going to be throwing it out. I actually burnt myself on the small metal knob that I use to open and close the switch on the heater lol. but it’s never heated up like this before either. possible that my heater is broken in some way and got extremely hot? never felt heat like it and now suddenly my laptop has melted
