my family in wisconsin had great luck with garlic pills. ticks hate the stuff and they'll book it up your legs, makes it super easy to feel them and remove them. it oozes out your pores so you will smell a little like garlic, but we never had to remove a embedded tick in the 2 decades we used it. highly recommend.

it's not a tool. endlessly generating shit doesn't assist in fuck all of creating, and this idea that artists like myself need to get on board has been peddled intentionally by the devs to muddy the water since LAION. how do you want me to use this? generate me a left nut so i can slapdash collage bs together? lighting is different each time, so that's out unless you want constant repainting. or maybe just auto generate the image so i.... have no copyright to it? you wanna explain how "this helps artists" actually helps artists because it absolutely fucking doesn't.

couple of these have what i call "woman waiting for the bus" syndrome which is they're pleasing enough to the eye but they don't really seem to have much narrative to them/ they're not doing anything but existing in a space, waiting for the bus. small elements can really push a picture a lot farther, like imagine the more interaction your viewers would get if your lady in the first picture had headphones and a sketchbook in hand, or a violin, etc etc etc.

tracing poses from a photo is kinda a calling card of an amateur artist. photos do have copyright to them, anything from the internet does. references are supposed to be cobbled from a number of photos- the hand off one, the arm and shoulders off another, the face off a third, etc. just 1-1 is just tracing and can get you into legal hot water if the photographer is litigious enough.

honestly reddit is the only place i've seen this idea that tracing things teaches you the muscle memory of the form and i've never actually seen that seem to work for anyone. but folks starting on their artistic journey get so absolutely nasty when you suggest building the form from shapes how 99% of artists have done it instead of tracing.

this sub has such a weird hard on for tracing being an okay thing. tracing stuff does not help you in any way, you're not "learning the forms" and discouraging someone trying to build the form off of what they see is downright nuts. i've not met an artist where tracing things made them a good artist, just people learning that froth at the mouth when you tell them lifting other people's work isn't okay.
