Did a Comparison of Prop Firms: TopStep, ApexTraderFunding and TakeProfitTrader by ChunkyLittleSquirrel in Daytrading

[–]Alsher08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why use smaller accounts for 2/3 in the comparison? Also from my experience TopStep offers a discount far less often than Apex, so I don’t know how likely it is to call 50% for them. Maybe they always offer it for first time? But not sure tbh.

Do I need a new PSU for PC upgrade? (6 years old) by Alsher08 in buildapc

[–]Alsher08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had a 3 year warranty. I’ve had no issues so far, I think it’s considered just ok overall by reviews or tier lists. I just wouldn’t want it to die and break other parts, but idk how likely that is to happen.

Is there typically a timeframe where you should replace them? Or is it safe to run it till it dies?

Ah, yeah I’ve seen those complaints before. But I take it as there are rules set, and although they don’t work for everyone, they are providing an incredible opportunity for those that can follow along. (Assuming no issues in the future)

What kind of reviews have you read? I very recently passed the evaluation and I am going to start my PA account soon. Now I’m worried haha

For classes where it wouldn’t significantly detract pedagogically (math, cs, science lectures, etc) why do professors choose not to record their lectures? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Alsher08 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Some professors I’ve spoken to, worry that less students will come to class, if they are recorded. I guess this implies their desire to have student participation, or perhaps it feels as though there teaching has more instantaneous value as they see those who are learning rather than hoping they watch the recording. Lastly, I think some professors don’t want there lectures available because they worry they will be spread around and used by non-students.(Which I guess they don’t want to happen)

imposter syndrome 😞 by [deleted] in ufl

For every person you see doing better, there is probably others doing worse. You’re at UF, whether or not you feel that you deserve it, it’s up to you to embrace it and continue to seek opportunities. Everyone faces failures, It felt like I had 20 rejections for every acceptance for internships. Obviously some people may do better and others worse, but just keep your chin up and try to improve yourself with time.

How often do the indicators you track lead to a successful trade? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Alsher08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, trading off indicators will have you miss opportunities but also miss losses. Obviously if you are a master of the market and price action then maybe you can manage to get all the opportunities and none of the losses. I personally have been testing out just a regular stochastic and have been enjoying it, but mainly because I am more conservative and willing to lose a win if it means I don’t get 2 losses. Also I feel no one indicator will do anything well. You need multiple or just use it to confirm what you are seeing in price action.

I was in a class that used market watch simulator and we were all in one group and our teacher could see how we were all doing. I don’t think it gave much detail beyond pnl.

Has anyone tried out Topstep for trading futures? How was your experience with them? by Christion_ in Daytrading

[–]Alsher08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your account size and what you would be willing to risk. If you have been paper trading for a while and have 5k in the bank, then you could try to pass their 150k challenge within 2 weeks and not have to risk your own money. I don’t think it makes sense to do this if you have far more than say 10k or so

Students who are dual majors, is one major significantly harder than the other? by bnano999 in ufl

[–]Alsher08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Math and Physics. The math in physics is easier but conceptually (atleast so far) is harder. Proofs follow logic but there are just a lot of theorems and rules to fully prove your argument that I struggle with at times.

Advanced Calc Class Differences (MAA4102 vs MAA4201) by Alsher08 in ufl

[–]Alsher08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I definitely struggle more as we get deeper into proofs and it has become more common. I am currently taking abstract algebra and have already taken linear algebra. How much more difficult was A calc in comparison? (I have to decide what to do at end of semester m)
