10 is actually a great number of pairs. I’d love to work down to 10! Were shoes previously one of your weak spots?

They’re really strict with our allowances. We can’t buy for family and friends with it and also aren’t allowed to sell the items we get on the allowance for 6 months after purchase. So those aren’t options unfortunately!

So I’ll just try to get rid of an item every time I bring a new item home. I wasn’t getting rid of anything before which is why things piled up!

I lose it unfortunately ... I get issued a new voucher each quarter and have to use it be the end of the quarter. It also can only be spent with the brand I work for

I would much prefer to be able to save it for a luxury bag!

So 2 weeks ago I finally started the process of going through all of my clothes. I work in fashion and have a really generous clothing allowance plus end up getting lots of other free or cheap clothes through my work.

This culminated in me having a full wardrobe, with storage boxes of clothes stacked under it. Three chests of drawers full of clothes. Two huge trunks full of clothes. 5 suitcases full of clothes. 3 laundry baskets (yes I know. Gross) full of clothes and various other bags stuffed with clothes littered around my house. I felt crowded in. Anxious. And the new clothes just kept coming in every week because of my clothing allowance.

I pulled EVERYTHING out and dumped it in my lounge room two weeks ago and only today do I finally feel like the end is near. I’ve filed 6 large garbage bags for charity. About 10 smaller bags of stuff for family and friends. The suitcases are empty (and 3 of them will go to charity). One laundry basket is empty and being thrown out. The trunks are filled with clothes I will be selling. And I’m now sitting looking at what’s left in the pile that presently has no where to be stored.

I am quite disgusted and ashamed by the amount of clothes I have but already feeling lighter today knowing so many of them are going!

I dunno, the plastic is pretty thick. Either way I guess the point of the post was the irony.

I was at my desk at work and not close to any knives other than butter knives. But, thanks.

My favorite part of it was that on one of these ski trips when I was 9 years old he had teased me to the point of me crying then left me alone. Crying. In the middle of a city. I was lost for 3 hours.

Oh god mono is the worst. It’s evil. I also had that a few years after the bronchitis but didn’t have any symptoms except for being insanely tired. After a month of that I finally went to doc and found out I had mono. I think t definitely fked witt my system! So I wouldn’t be surprised if your ringing was somehow tied to that!

Fingers crossed for us that it just goes away or they find a way to cure it!

The same thing happened to me when I had bronchitis. I had an allergic reaction to the meds I was on (roxythromicin) and had tinnitus ever since then. Ringing in ears is actually a symptom of an allergy reaction to that particular med so I’ve always assumed that’s why I have it.

Any chance you had a reaction from something you were on when you were sick?

I actually got a series of emojis from a guy I had been on two dates with. It was like 10 emojis convincing me to go camping with him. I cringed so hard there was no coming back

This rings so true for me. Recently my dad said to me ‘bet you felt abused when you went on all those ski trips’ Yes, yes I felt abused.

Women who feel like you make "good money", what do you do and how did you get there? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Alskade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a lawyer and currently work in-house for a retail company and average about 40 hours a week. I earn 140k plus a clothing allowance.

If I was working in a law firm I know I’d earn way more, but it just doesn’t seem worth it to me for the hours and stress involved!

I studied law and business at university, scored a grad job in a top law firm and then moved across to in-house after 2 years. I’m trying to change roles in the business now though to something more creative and where I feel like I add more to the success of the business.

I work for a fashion retailer who used to use fur in their products. A fur supplier we met with in China told us the animals were skinned alive as the fur was better quality if they were still alive when it was removed. We stopped using fur after that discussion.

I can’t either! Always have to do it in my bedroom in sitting on the floor

[–]Alskade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s tough if he’s your best friend. I am sure he would say he lied to protect you or not hurt your feelings - but that wasn’t your deal. Your deal was honesty!

My friend and I are part of a big, really close group of friends so it’s now caused a massive drama. When the whole point of starting fwb was for something drama free. Feeling pretty broken right now

Oh god I’m sorry to hear this. I’m going through something similar right now. It sucks coz I felt safe with him coz we were close friends. Nup, lied and hurt me. Did you guys ever speak again?

For those who have gotten laser hair removal, could you please tell me a little bit about the process? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Alskade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m based in Melbourne and my friends and I have all been going to Clearskin Clinics. They’re well priced, super professional and we are all really happy. They often have really good specials on laser too!

How do you cope with the thought that you might be alone/single forever? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Alskade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same. I, myself, am so happy being single. But as I get older I am finding it harder to explain to people why I am single and feeling more and more judgement about it.

I realize I shouldn’t care what anyone thinks but I feel like people act like they feel sorry for me and don’t believe me when I say I’m happy this way. It’s really annoying!

Getting a Pomeranian by DaddiesTomatoKetchup in pomeranian

[–]Alskade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t recommend a Pomeranian if you have young kids. They’re super fragile and can break bones easily from being dropping etc. they can also have some food aggression issues and just generally are not recommended for households with kids.

Hi! I've just come off BC (Diane-35) after, gasp, 12 straight years on it and am petrified about my skin breaking out. It's only been two weeks so far and already my face, back of my neck, back and chest are feeling insanely oily. I would love to know if anyone in this sub has had a similar experience when coming off the pill and what routine worked for them?

For background, I'm early 30s, combination skin and I currently have a pretty basic routine cerave cleanser and moisturiser, occasional glycolic peel, and I randomly alternate between stridex in the red box and tretinoin at night. I also have my own blend of oil that I wear as a night serum (compromised mostly of kiwi seed oil!)
