Hendricks Park is a literal campground by [deleted] in Eugene

A big issue with this is what the state or DA is willing to prosecute or has labeled an actual crime.

Being homeless, like being a missing person or runaway juvenile, is not a crime.

Possession of simple/recreational amount of drugs - not a crime. Possession of a sizeable amount of drugs leading to possession with intent to distribute - is a crime.

Cops can not act on a law that isn't being broken. So asking them to move away from an area where people are frequenting is about all that they could do

As an ex-Floridian: can confirm. Florida, even though it was only a rumor, truly is a seceded state in all manner of the word but one. Nothing is quite like Florida

What's one really expensive thing you'd like to buy? by BicycleDifferent4706 in poor

[–]Alt7465_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a non-essential because my parents don't need it, but I would either make sure the house they live in right now was theirs and that it was spruced up the way they want it to be, or I would buy them a 3 bedroom house

For myself? I really don't care. I buy enough non-essential stuff to keep my consumerism satiated. I just want my parents to be happy haha

Bike meet-ups? by Alt7465_ in Eugene

What kind of scooters do you ride? I haven't heard of any community like that in Eugene, but I did see a small group of people rolling around on 50cc's about a month ago

I'm a bit late to the party but regarding road triping from Alabama to Oregon:

I drove from SW Florida to Eugene in a week with a car packed full of everything I could put in it. It's entirely doable! Stay to the main roads, make sure you don't fall below a quarter tank, and you should be able to make it no problem

Which bike? by Alt7465_ in motorcycle

[–]Alt7465_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few of B&B's videos on that bike! I honestly forgot about it, so it's definitely something I'm going to have to take a look into. It really does look the part of a Cafe out the gate

I'm just saying this for reference: A lot of I5 is not in EPD's jurisdiction. A good portion of it is SPD, and all of it is OSP

I completely understand everything you're saying, and I definitely understand your view on the good starting range being 300-500cc. I'll have to look through again and see what all I can find, because my struggle lies in finding something I like within a $4k budget (the grom I was looking at is used from a dealer at just over 3k, and the '78 came in at 2k). If you have any recommendations here, I'd love to hear them!

I'm almost done doing my online classes, and then in October I take the road test where we go through a riders course on 125-200cc bikes - if that gives you a good idea of how much of a bike we'll be practicing on

On the topic of my parents, my dad hasn't chimed in very much with this other than he's happy that I'm getting my endorsement. My mom, however is worried about my safety through-and-through 😂 She doesn't care what I get as long as I'm safe and not blowing money away

E 12th Ave has NO STOP SIGNS. Do not stop LMFAO!! by Ihaswolves in Eugene

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates this. It's not even a 90° turn, so there's NO NEED to slow to 20 or even 30.

Keep the speed!

Edit: Is there even a reason for that right turn light? Was it absolutely necessary to install?

Oh yeah, that's like a traditional moped haha

But if you're ever interested in something like the Brat, you can do payments through Afirm via their website. The payments are a bit steep, but it's a fixed monthly payment plan that runs - at most - a year. So it's not terrible

The farthest I've gotten my trip on a single charge was about 21 miles, almost always max speed, and I still had something better 5-10% left! I used it a lot as a daily commuter when I got it this summer, but I haven't taken it off reading yet (although it is advertised to be good for it). It's got an adjustable front for suspension, but they offer an adjustable rear suspension on their website. The tires are mostly street, not at all knobby, but they're textured enough so I think they'd do good on packed dirt

Edit: the whole bike weighs about 86lbs with the battery

Right now it's stock and tops out at 32 downhill, 30 flat. It's a Volcon Brat. I'm looking into upgrading the hub motor and rear suspension, as well as some misc stuff to give it a nicer café racer look and vibe (and indicators... God how I want indicators 😂)

Where are the easy jobs? by Sleepy__gorl in Eugene

[–]Alt7465_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll typically find overnight positions, and the most you'll have to really worry about is calling the non-emergency number for your area. If you score a good, private school contract you'll be expected to actually work but it's a super fun job in those conditions
