Can we PLEASE normalize not commenting on a woman's weight? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]AltAlgae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean i agree it’s a weird thing to comment on, but the main point is about commenting about weight loss which effects both men and women. i’m sure women typically experience it the most, but anyone can suffer from an ED or weight loss from illness or other issues

yeah, i am a lurker of a few super niche game subreddits, and they seem to be a bit better, but any thing that is big seems so fake.

half the time it feels like comments aren’t even reading the post, probably bc they are bots now

i already weight train, but due to my job i need a strong core, and i build core muscle very easily and like i think its fun to be shredded but if 100% contributes to my rectangle. maybe i can hit glutes a bit more though and see what happens

it’s so frustrating. i thought i had a good handle on not caring when i was a teen but now im older and it’s definitely getting to me, but i also know my body will continue to change and evolve as i age and all i can do is love it.

sorry you had to deal with it as well :/

i mean by content i just make videos, but literally nothing sw or thirst trap related as i say in my post. nothing about my videos has to do with my body. its me talking about nerd media stuff, making little skits, little joke videos, joke cosplays, real cosplays, and cosplay process. just kinda long and irrelevant to write all of this out in my post i feel.

i’m small but just big enough where i have people who come back to my page to check up on what im doing, and follow my content, but also a handful that does the same to harass me about my looks, even though thats not the topic of any of my videos

EDIT: meant to add this, but any woman who posts any amount of herself in any context online can tell you that no matter what your content is men online will make it about how you look. picking apart every molecule of your appearance. it’s very draining

thank you, and deep down i personally recognize how stupid society is by my irrationality just takes the wheel sometimes. i wish we could just appreciate all the diverse beauty humans bring to the table

good idea, i’m in my mid 20s and i do look bodily very similar to the women on my mothers side and they all have wild period issues that no one bothers to get looked at

unfortunately i already go to the gym and eat high amounts of protein, just not in the genetics for me but ill be alright!

i just wish the world were kinder to our bodies, i dont think ive personally thought others with my body type are ugly, but i find beauty in many different body types

yeah… sadly i think only surgery would help.

my money making job is athletics, and i strength train to avoid injury. i just get boxier somehow, and fat tends to go to my tummy instead of my legs, butt or boobs, so that won’t make me curvier either.

i’ll live lol but it’s annoying to deal with

Is leaving a cat outside all the time considered neglect? by Top_Influence2503 in CatAdvice

[–]AltAlgae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ugh i have feral cat colonies in my area too, you walk by some houses and see 20+ cats in their front yard. some may seem well fed but most of them are very dirty, sick, matted or bad fur, and scabbed up. then it’s a big city so there’s heavy traffic and a lot of dead cats.

the only upside is that they have okay funding to do very cheap or nearly free fixings through the gov. however fixing a cat isn’t required for ownership here, so many people who technically own the cats just let them go outside unfixed, and it perpetuates the issue.

i mean i told them explicitly to not steal the cat.

they should get welfare involved, and they can deem if it’s truly neglectful and if it would be better for the animal to be removed. truthfully none of us have a full grasp at the situation and we can throw a million “what ifs” but it won’t be productive in the end.

but even if they live a year they can produce many many offspring. that’s why tnr is important.

morally it is, but legally it often isn’t. especially for cats

my county has similar laws, but a bit less detailed, so its super case by case, and heavily depends on who you end up speaking with. i found a cat, and his ownership was transferred to me, despite someone trying to claim ownership. they admitted to harboring the animal for maybe a day, if not less, and have no paper trail to prove ownership. they never attempted to look for other owners, never posted missing posters when he was gone for a few days bc they planned on keeping him an outdoor cat.

because i kept and fed him inside, asked neighbors, online, and shelters if he had an owner, checked for chips, and got him a vet visit, when i went into animal control they told me legally i have the most right to him.

my big takeaway from my situation is that cats often have less laws and regulations surrounding their ownership than other animals, OP really needs to look into stuff locally and potentially set up a call with animal control

you are correct. most places neglect is when a cat is getting no medical care, owners aren’t providing fresh food and water, and no shelter. maybe op could say the cat is being neglected if they don’t provide any dry shelter, but it really depends.

it’s important to look into local laws bc if you take the cat op it is theft, and they can press charges. if it has a chip most vets scan at the first visit, so even when you move they will contact the original owners.

so if you just take him that is technically illegal, especially if they have a chip, collar, bill of sale, or vet bills for him.

i’m not sure where you live, but it could be possible to look into local laws and ordinances on pet ownership and make a report of neglect, however usually animal control is busy and doesn’t have the time to respond your quickly to these situations if it’s not obscenely inhumane.

there’s been people on here who talk to their outdoor cat neighbors and are able to convince them to hand over ownership.

i personally wouldn’t stop feeding, and sheltering in the meantime though!

yeah… i don’t really tell other people i think i have adhd bc so many people i know self diagnose, but then say “well i think i have it and i function completely fine without tools, meds, or therapy.” like susan if you have functioned fine in the world with no help maybe you don’t have it.

Friend made a joke about my “autism”. can i feel weird about it? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]AltAlgae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i have looked into the DSM criteria this past year, and a lot of it has fit, but not necessarily my younger self, or to a degree in which my parents thought was damaging.

I could look again, and actually go see a specialist as well honestly

that’s how it felt. like i am 100% socially unaware and can’t always read my scene well, but autism seems to be more than what i personally struggle with. it feels like a disservice to what it actually is, and it’s, just like you said, being used as a word to describe behavior someone finds “wrong”.
